AUTUMN INTERMISSION

While the Mistress is just back from out of town for the weekend at Sea Witch, let's enjoy the stylings of Old Devil Moon by the fabulous Lena Horne

  1. I love this song. It's one of my favorites. I love Lena Horne. She's one of my favorites. I don't like the two of them together, though. The tempo is way too fast for my tastes. I love this song sung slowly, sexily and sultry. This is like speeding up Julie London's Cry Me a River. But that's just me.

    1. I adore her too, but this is my favorite version. Her voice sounds so perfect to it. I also saw a Peggy Lee one, and that sucked. And I adore Peggy.

Julie London does a good version of this song to.

    2. You do have a bit of an old soul, Mads. I like the dichotomy. As for the song, it's just the tempo. Some things are just better done slow *wink*.
I would love to hear Julie London's version! Her voice was so yummy.
I like Peggy Lee, but she always sounds slightly drunk to me.
Anyway, I'm glad you made it back safely.

    3. I do have an old soul. I'll always take the swingers and singers before the new singers

  3. I'm not familiar with the song, but I really like it. If only I weren't listening to rock and roll at the moment...

    1. Robzilla, it is sung by Petulia Clark and Don Francks in the movie Finian's Rainbow. That's the version I first heard.

  4. One of the greats. Classy and talented. There was something about the singers in those days, the way they turned a lyric. (The fact that one could ***understand*** the lyrics helped!)
