USUAL SUSPECT

Some magnolias I picked yesterday. The scent in them smells wonderful. Today was the first morning that the Red Bellied Woodpecker came a pecking at the drain pipe, and I am sure got the whole neighborhood up. I got up early but then went back for another hour or two snooze. With the morning being absolutely gorgeous and sunny, before making my breakfast of pancakes and such...I filled the window sill of my seed mixture, Bonnie the dove was the only one there for some time...and she was ready for a close up. Most of the real fat doves I am assuming are the females, getting ready to lay and nest...but this is a very small female. Or she didn't breed yet. Search me...but she is a fast eater....

Great...I just LOVE BEING FILMED while I eat.
She didn't seem to mind me right on the other side of the windows.
I'm sure she really loved that I also spotted my first ever Bluebirds here. I think they set up house in one of the birdhouses here. Meanwhile SOME are just now getting up.

    1. Oh no!!!! I can already not wait to read the Tales of CARLOS this week. Do give the birthday boy a big wet kiss from me. No, on second thought, if you do, he might be confused who I am and how we met and you'll have to explain we know each other, but we don't, but I'm sure he'll remember meeting me anyhow....see my point. I hope he has a good Birthday though..after all, he's in good hands!!!!!!

    2. Bob, I love the new avatar! I wasn't quite sure it was you until you mentioned Carlos. I thought I might've been replying to a stranger on the mermen post. Give Carlos a big hug from me (less face wetting than a kiss). You two enjoy your day.

  3. I LOVE magnolias. I pick them to but they don't stay long cut off the tree. And those pictures show such detail in the feathers. Amazing how close to the glass you can get. She must like you.

  7. I'm inspired by nature every day... it just doesn't always end up in anything created. SOMETIMES it does, ha ha. Lately, I've been more inspired by spring this year. Our hyacinths and daff's are up and the tulips will be next. Your bird post are always inspiration. I can see all the feathers in that one picture. You never realize how pretty they are till up this close. We still thank you for your bird recipe mixture...we are up to 9 breed varieties now. Loving Buster and that stretch. Tell him to do one for this old broad.

Hope you have a fab weekend, darling! xox

  14. Bonnie is very entertaining as she pecks up that seed. But I don't envy you your drainpipe knocking woodpecker.
There are one or two very noisy owls at the back of the DeVice Mansion that sometimes wake me extremely early in the morning, but I'm sure they're not as loud as your woodpecker.

    1. I sleep very heavy...never hear a thing ever.... I sleep like the dead, and I hear that every morning. It is very loud. Now like a said, remember, I sleep very heavy Mr DeVice. I would never even hear if you were to say sneak in, and I never lock the boudoir door or windows.

  20. Speaking of spring, birds and dogs, Cujo and Bella got their spring grooming yesterday. Cujo's out patrolling the back yard. I certainly hope a fly by hawk doesn't mistake him for a small rabbit or gigantic white rat! I get this fear every spring.
