HARD AS ROCK

I know it's Monday, but get your mind out of the gutters so soon!

I could only sit still so long, before I thought of going on a walk about in New Hope as the weather got nice and sunny. In New Hope, you never know where one may end up. On the main street into New Hope,  is a great statuary place that is owned by the once mayor of town. I haven't been in a while. Last time in I bought a huge wrought iron fence piece to be re-purposed as a head board for a clients bed. A crafty queen I can be. I decided to take a peek and see what was in there currently. Some pretty interesting things These penguins above immediately reminded me of our dear Travel Penguin.

I love these pineapples...One of these would be great in a kitchen.
I love gargoyles. I have a small one from here on my bedroom window sill outside to ward of evil spirits. It seems to work.
How very Zen...…..
I later found myself across the bridge at a favorite place to enjoy a gin and tonic, The Boat House. I love the place. It's hidden, quiet and off the beaten path from tourist. Irenea the hostess was there and looking at my pictures I took, and we discussed some of the pieces.
"Oh Hermes. quite a mischievous one." she said. Surely she didn't mean me when she gave me a odd look.

Hermes.
Me, not to be confused with Hermes.
I feel more butch in a ball cap then then a winged hat.
Happy Monday All!

  1. Nice pictures, Mistress. I'll try to have a good Monday but I'm not feeling it right now.

  2. Neat shots!

I would love to have the penguins, the pig from the third pic (Babe!), plus the Buddha statues outdoors. Add some dogs, foxes, cats, and the goddess Inari and I'd've an outdoors temple! Or the setting for an outdoors bar!

Hermes is my fave of all the Greek Olympian gods.

  8. Hello mistress,
Firstly, I thoroughly enjoyed the birds in your last post, especially the jays. My father always says that jays are the "policeman of the woods" as they alert all the other birds of danger with their shrill call.
This post too is great. I love stone carvings.

Many stately homes here in the UK had stone pineapples placed on driveway entrances as a way of showing off. The pineapple was the status symbol of the time. Only the very wealthy could afford glass houses and gardeners to look after them.
My father was in the air force in ww2 and was stationed in malaysia(now Singapore) he said he once stole a pineapple growing in a field and tried to eat it. He said it took most of the skin off the inside of his mouth, it was so acidic!

Love the pic of you in the ball cap. You've made a middle-aged housewife very happy...... 😂

    1. I can believe that about Blue Jays. They are the first bird in the morning I hear squawking about. The babies even noisier. But the pineapples I never knew were associated with the a status symbol. I do recollect though they are a sign of welcome, which is why I might like one in my kitchen.

Glad I made your day dear!

  11. You LOOK more butch in a ball cap than in a winged hat. I wish we had a statuary place like that around here. So many great, big, items for our terrace. All we have here are life-sized jungle animals and biblical figures. Even Hermes would be an improvement. Hey, how about that last "figure"? Do you ship?

    1. I wonder how much in postage that "figure" would take?

You two would love that place.

My mother has two pineapples at her back gate to the garden. They have been there since the house was there. I am loving some of those Buddha statue and such.

  15. First off, William and I adore the Boat House for drinks. The bartenders there always make a nice,, neat old fashioned craft drink. And the interior is so quaint.

Lovely picture...love the post title. The statue garden I call it, as some very neat things and some very goofy things as well. We have several different urns from there on our patio, and a few statues in the garden. Nice, but he is a bit pricey.

And if my son weren't already taken, I'd be instigating a meet and greet for you two. What is in the water over there honey?

  18. I could find a corner on the terrace for a pair of stone penguins. They don't eat much and they are easy to clean up after, the perfect housepets.

  22. The urn with the dragon handles in the first picture (back left) caught my eye. The penguins are cute, too. And that griffin in the second pic looks entirely too smug! So many wonderful things to gaze at in this post!

P.S. The Very Mistress MJ would love those Green Men
