The Twinkster Christie

Governor Christie was entertaining as always this week when asked about the famous Twinkie, and it's maker closing it's doors for good. I thought it showed yet another wonderful, human side to the guy, which is making me like him all the more. When asked, the self-aware governor, and butt of many fat jokes, refused to answer a question about Twinkies at a press conference Friday. "Really? Seriously? You're not asking me about Hostess Twinkies, are ya?" Christie said from the podium. Still, Christie did not take the snack cake bait and asked to move on to the next question. "I'm on ‘Saturday Night Live’ enough," he said. "You think you're getting me behind this microphone having me talk about Twinkies?" Christie cracked a smile about what he considered a setup. "No, no, no, no, no. It's bad that I even said the word ‘Twinkie’ from behind this microphone.” "And don't go to Devil Dogs," he joked. "Don't try it." Such a sense of humor. I personally never cared for the things, but must admit America without Twinkies??? Doesn't seem right. And more jobs loss.

  1. This guy is growing on me (no pun intended). He's no nonsense, shows decisive leadership and doesn't flip flop and "Etch A Sketch" like Willard Romney. He's also not a captive of the fringe religious right. If he runs in 2016 he'll be formidable. As a Jersyan I didnt vote him in, but would vote for him most definelty now. And I love he's says WHATEVER is on his mind to WHOEVER!

  3. :-)

When we moved to the US from deepest, darkest, remote Canada land (food came in by barge once a week) we (brother and me) discovered junk food! We couldn't believe the stuff available like Twinkies and Ding Dongs!

  4. Was he the governor who hugged Obama? I hope he didn't squeeze to hard. He sounds like a possible replacement for the late John Candy.

I like Christie. He's the governor of all of New Jersey, not just one political party like most GOP governors out there.

If he runs for President in 2016, he could win. I can imagine a lot of Independents going his way since he's willing to cross the aisle to do what it takes to get things done.

  6. He is really getting people re-thinking their thoughts on politicians. I hunger for more bi- partisans like him and people who can work with both sides. I have several friends who say they are not partisan, but they will refuse to see both sides. Their view is the only one and it drives me nuts!

I am a Jersey boy and though I didn't nor wouldn't vote for the man he has a great sense of humor about himself which is refreshing for a politico. He also has done a good job the last few 3 weeks and has earned the respect he seems to be getting

  9. Just like a genital wart, the guy tends to grow on you. He's not my governor, but I'm disliking him less and less as the weeks go by. May the Lord of the Ring Dings continue to take a bipartisan stand on the issues that affect all New Jersey residents. If he can get rid of that anti-union rhetoric, I'd absolutely support him in a presidential bid ... even though I'm NOT a Republican and will never be one.
