Business and Design, As Usual

This week was back to regularly scheduled business at work, although the next three weeks I am having four day weeks. Which is nice, who doesn't like a three day weekend. It was a hectic week too. I started out by completing two Juicy Couture visual moments for our Juicy Couture shopping event. Can I tell y'all how much OVER I am of Juicy Fucking Couture? Unfortunately or fortunately I'm not sure which, but it is still a huge money maker in our store. So the Mistress installed these to visuals for the event.

The good thing about Juicy Couture visuals is that they really like to see over the top displays. The more theatrical the better. Also this week was a another visual moment display case for the arrival of Helmut Lang.

A little morbid but kinda cool. The rest of the week was spent getting the store cleaned up, re-organized and re-griding the floors before the really big spring deliveries. We also had a think tank on where we would be installing major visual moments and ideas to enhance the trends for spring, the colors we would be using, and placing orders on all the display items we will need. Our theme for spring is to be a surreal carnival theme with accent colors of red, black, white and yellow. Once we install them I will feature pictures for y'all.

The Mistress is also on the Hospitality and Goodwill Committee at work. Our employer is now donating a percentage of sales over the next month to the Haiti Earthquake Fund. But we also wanted to do something on a store level so we are having a huge bake sale and will price things just a tad bit higher for the cause. The Mistress is going to make Chocolate Covered Cherries and will sell them for $5 for two. So far we have a huge turn out of bakers for the bake sale. In addition, the Mistress is also heading up a Haiti Supply Drive. We are collecting non-perishable food items, medical supplies which they are in dire need of and baby supplies. Our connection with the Red Cross will pick up the items and then send them to where they need to go. I was surprised already we have a full box filled! Through out the month we also have many store related events to help the Haiti cause.

Now that the weekend is here it's time for some relaxing, and maybe a trip into Philadelphia. I have been wanting to see the Body Worlds exhibit at the Franklin Institute. It was here when Auntie Flame visited but we didn't see it then. Now it's back. Body Worlds 2 & The Brain presents a broad collection of authentic human specimens, and, for the first time in Philadelphia, a special presentation on the brain. Featuring some of the latest findings in neuroscience on brain development, function and disease, this exhibit will inspire a greater understanding of and respect for the mysterious world of the brain. All specimens in Body Worlds exhibitions are preserved by the revolutionary process of Plastination, invented by anatomist Dr. Gunther von Hagens. Body Worlds is the only public anatomical exhibition associated with an established body-donation program. This kind of thing always fascinates me. There also may be a trip to the market as well. And the weather is suppose to be get beautiful, so my ass is getting out while we are having a heat wave. Also, in a un-related note, why is it the when a dog wakes up from sleeping, they smell like corn chips? Or is it just me? Tootles!

  7. Just a note on your comment about the dog smelling like corn chips. Chris and Tom have some CD's in the store about dogs and one of my favorite one's is "Popcorn Paws". Their paws do smell like popcorn when they are sleeping.

    LOL
