Never yet was a spring-time,
Late through lingered the snow,
That the sap stirred not at the whisper
Of the south wind, sweet and low;
Never yet was a spring-time,
Come, when the buds forgot to blow.
Even the wings of the summer
Are folded under the mould:
Life, that has known no dying,
Is Love's, to have and to hold.
Till sudden, the bourgeoning Easter!
The song of the green, the pink and the gold.
-Margaret Elizabth Munson Sangster
A celebration for spring, renewal and nature for us at the Casa du Borghese. Our morning started with hot crossed buns, and we even enjoyed it outside with coffee for our pew. On tap, a lamb roast, with a lemon, rosemary and feta sauce, ginger and honey glazed parsnips and red potatoes, beets and asparaguy! Pear martinis on tap for happy hour. All with the Lad and mother's nieces and one cousin. The Dame came through with a lovely bounty of flowers to grace the table. All told a lovely day so far.
A Happy Easter and a Joyous Spring to all.

And I just bet the Lad enjoyed you hot crossed buns!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. It's people like yourself that make these things a memory for many.
Happy Easter Mistress.

ReplyDeleteWhat time is dinner, I'll be there with a bonnet on!!!
I love this post!! So happy and I love how you mention the true meaning behind Easter! I'm not at all religious either, so it a time to give an ode and nod to the delights of Spring and nature for me too. What a glorious table setting and flowers! Happy Easter Mistress!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks and sounds so good! Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter, Mistress! I pigged out on hot cross buns yesterday. My chocolate Lindt bunny has now mysteriously disappeared too. I'm making ham for Easter dinner. I really should have bought a nice Spring floral bouquet too. It would have been the crowning touch!
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures! Happy Easter! Those hot crossed buns look so good and I must confess despite my affection for baked goodies, I have never had hot crossed buns!
ReplyDeleteNo hot cross buns for us! Happy Easter! Glad you had such a special day.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to wrestle with my nephews post-Easter-feast! Read that as candy!

ReplyDeleteI hope you had a Happy Easter!! Those flowers look lovely.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful plates; they remind me of a collection in the Hofberg.
ReplyDeleteDid you know that plain tulips are more likely to flame if planted under apple trees?
Thank you for the lovely compliment. Those plates actually belonged to my paternal grandmothers great grandmother. So they've been in our family for quite a while.
DeleteA belated Happy Easter to you, Maddie.
ReplyDeleteEverything on your table looked so elegant, sweetpea! xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou really know how to set a beautiful table, Maddie! The floral centrepiece is stunning (the Dame really outdid himself) -- orchids, tulips, hydrangea, Oh My!
ReplyDeleteAnd a happy Easter back to you!
