Another disappointment in recent weeks. Pa Senator John Fetterman was someone I thought would make a difference and bring positive change. He won his seat in 2022, campaigning for Medicare for All and progressive values... and it seemed he sold out almost immediately. When he got into office, he refused to sponsor a Medicare for All bill--which he had campaigned on and won on. He also became Israel's biggest supporter, even modifying his famous working class drag costume to wear an Israeli flag as a cape to work. Since then, he been supporting Trump nominees, and even claiming that his brain injury had caused him to snap out of his former progressive vision. Now his staff is quitting right and left, disappointed too he wasn't all he claimed, and he spends more time representing Isarel than he does his own state. Looks like he is on his way to becoming the next Joe Manchin, the Democrat/ then Independant, who sided with the GOP more so to derail progress. but it took years for progressive AOC who at times sells out also to line up with centrist Dems. Fetterman's worse-- he now sides with Republicans more than not. And Israel, just as he was paid by pro-Is lobby J Street to do. He is also taking money from GOP donors. Democrats can't just criticize GOP politicians and billionaires and not criticize the corrupting influence of money on their own side. Especially when it's this damn brazen.
I agree. Something happened, perhaps because of his stroke, but he has changed completely.
ReplyDeleteVote Blue no matter who slaps back. Do the homework. Just because their blue doesn't mean they are the right person, and he and Machin are visual aids.
ReplyDeleteI agree Asriel. Vote Blue No matter who is not always the best advice. I recall a state rep we had who did absolutely nothing for two terms and was finally voted out and the seat went to a Republican...they have yet to get the seat back. Blue or Red, who can't do the job or keep your promises then your voted out. I think Fetterman is in trouble his next election.
DeleteI remember Michael Moore interviewing him for tv nation in the 90’s. He was a refreshing clear progressive voice- so it’s been boggling to see his votes on things since elected.
ReplyDeleteThe only time I ever saw that schlub dress up in a suit was when Netanyahu spoke to congress. That should tell you everything you need to know.
ReplyDeleteI trust not a single ego that makes their way to these elected seats. They’re ALL bought and paid for, and even those who’d don’t start that way sell out - with VERY few exceptions like Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, & Pramila Jayapal. AOC is walking a fine line.
ReplyDeleteHe'll never get another vote out of me!
ReplyDeleteSlimy as can be. Yuck! Spineless Zionst democrat.
ReplyDeleteWhether it was the stroke or the money it should be a sobering lesson to all of us for sure. Maybe another stroke would set him back to right?
ReplyDeletePlease don't remind me. It makes me sick to my stomach knowing I helped him get elected. Vote Blue no Matter Who. In this case we followed that line and got fucked.
ReplyDeleteLet's no forget...he was also the deciding vote for Hegseth, as well!!!
ReplyDeleteI don’t understand him at all.
