MADAM SENATOR INDEED

Senator Carla Antonelli, who if you're not aware is a Spanish actress, politician and a worldwide LGBT activist, and who made history by becoming Spain's first openly trans senator in 2023. Since then, she pledged to further advance the country's progressive legislation and advocate for queer and trans rights. Committed to the promise, two weeks ago, Madam Senator delivered a powerful speech on trans rights to parliament in defense of trans rights. One of the most powerful speeches I've seen to date for trans rights. It's like a mother telling the world to leave my children alone.

Brava Madam Senator!!!! Now that is Pride
Happy Gay Pride!

  2. I am very happy to hear Senator Antonelli's speech a powerful and passionate one as this one, and above all to see the support of her colleagues and people in general in a moment as vulnerable as it is for trans people right now. We must remain firm and continue fighting, respect for trans people does not have to have any price, since they are people just like us who just want to live their lives in peace without harming anyone.

  4. She is just simply amazing, what a mic drop.... and she will be remembered for years and forever for the speech alone, never-mind her work, but that too.

  5. My goddess… and then one day someone comes along and speaks up with so much passion it leaves you breathless… thank the universe for you from a fellow trans. And THANK YOU for posting this. Caitlyn Jenner has a lot to learn...take notes dear.

The passion of conviction and truth !
Senator Antonelli is of the same firmament as the very progressive Federica Montseny, in 1936 the first woman to be a cabinet minister in Spain and one of the first in Europe. A fire is set in conviction and truth when one is marginalized as women were in Minister Montseny’s time back then and trans are in Senator Antonelli’s time of today.
The fascist won the Spanish Civil War, but democracy in Spain overcame and has flourished. I know my Spanish grandfather, an anti-fascist veteran of the Spanish Civil War, would be proud of Senator Carla Antonelli as he was of Minister Federica Montseny.

  7. Good on her for not stopping when they turned her mic off. Amazing, heartfelt speech.

  8. As a trans woman, what moved me finally to tears was witnessing the love and support that she received from all those around her, especially the men close by. In a country that was long known for its machismo... this was just so beautiful to see. As a country, America is going so backwards. Were soon to be the biggest disappointment on the planet. I'm almost ashamed to admit I'm American.

  9. This is one of the most powerful pleas and demands I’ve seen recently. THIS IS THE OUTRAGE NOT ONLY TRANS NEED BUT MY FRIENDS IN THE US MUST HAVE!!!! This is the power and fire and fight the LGBTQ and the US must have. I wish you Americans could see this kind of passion in your congress halls.

  12. What a powerful speech from a truly great woman and human being. VOX is our shame, our rightwing extremist danger.

  13. Wow. What a fabulous powerful speech. This is what the world needs, what America needs right now.
And that asshat shaking his head while she spoke? Disgusting.

    1. And I loved even after her Mike was cut she still continued, without a hiccup and delivered one last gut punch. She has the passion and the fire and guts. And you're right more of that is needed in the US.

    Very heartfelt and very effective.
This is the kind of speeches needed right now. In Europe the right is also a very clear menace (Vox is despicable in Spain) and Trans people are constantly under threat.

    XOXO

Maybe our Sarah McBride from Delaware will be our Carla Antonelli. She has already given some very polite speeches on the floor of the House of Representatives. It would be wonderful to see her in her battle gear and give those old Southern ?gentlemen?, et al, a tongue lashing they won't soon forget.

    1. She is certainly a start. And glad to have her in congress. She comes across a bit demure, but hopefully she won't take crap from them and get nasty if she needs too.

  18. We all (bar people with so much money they can't bear to help others in need) need people in the political arena to stand up for us.

  20. She was incredible!! My Spanish is limited, but I do know that be told you have no shame cuts to the core of one's being. As Millison said maybe Rep. Sarah McBride can bring that level of passion to the floor. She was so subtle in her response to the asshat who misgendered her in a hearing, I don't think he even caught the shade! xoxo

    1. And let's face it....half the GOP is so stupid, they wouldn't know if they were being insulted or not. Shade would be wasted on them, they are not intelligent enough to know shade honey.
