Every now and then, when I am really pissed off with the broadcast new, I will search for a YouTube video of Cronkite. My God! How different the tone of the news back then. It was... facts. Reporting. No "feelie" things, no opinions. Just... news. Spoken by and adult for adults. And if you were a child, you actually, like, LEARNED something by watching. Oh, and no Big Pharma commercials.
I couldn't agree more with your comment. A sad shell of itself to what it used to be. It's almost as if no one take pride in their work anymore and has the balls to report just news. I mean who even comes close to Cronkite these days? Once morals, class, decorum, and work integrity leave, I suspect they won't return. I was very young then, but he left an impression on me and have memories of hearing this voice. Now I barely once the news.
My comment above, watched the Eagle landing on July 20. 1969 in the great room on the Presidio in Monterey, California while in the Navy. So great to see grown men showing their emotional side when that was rarely seen in public. Walter and the rest of the commentators were wiping tears, so was I.
Integrity. Calm. Honor.
