This time it's CNN, Jake Tapper and other new outlets, who are acting like it's bizarre that people have donated so much money to Luigi Mangione's defense fund. One person alone donated $30,000! And no it wasn't me! Why are they acting so surprised? Tapper asks, "Why on earth would people be donating to him?" Should someone with so little understanding on this country be hosting a news show with his corporate spin?
1- From Westerns to mafia-themed shows, many Americans romanticize the idea of a guy taking the law into their own hand to combat corruption. It's a tale as old as Robin Hood.
2- It doesn't hurt he gorgeous.
3- Our pitiful healthcare system is still the #1 cause of bankruptcy even after the meager reforms of Obamacare. People have had enough.
4- Luigi is a bonafide folk hero. Folk heroes often emerge during times of social injustice, conflict, or significant change, reflecting the collective hopes, fears and values of a society. Folk heroes commonly embody values like bravery, self-sacrifice, and a willingness to fight for the common good, often defending the oppressed against powerful forces.
Luigi will walk because they tried to turn his arrest into an over the top police drama, notice I said drama, not action movie, and they made so many mistakes,.
ReplyDeleteCNN IS a right-wing apologist ...they represent corporate media and are about 2 rings up from Fox...there is and never has been a "liberal" media.
ReplyDeleteYou're not the only ice hearted queen. I say line them all up, and let Luigi at em!
ReplyDeleteLearn a lesson the hard way. And even murdered....the others still won't get it. So your right.
DeleteJoan knows.
DeleteDriver take me to the nearest gun shop, I want to partake of my second amendment rights. Do you think they have an AK-47 I can purchase when I visit the White House later this month ? Though I heard the M16 is better.
Perhaps I’ll purchase both, you know my years of acting and representing Pepsi have taught to be disciplined and prepared at all times. When I make my purchase I’ll have to make sure they charge it Pepsi :)

If Luigi really wanted to be a true hero, Luigi should have visited Trump, Musk and the gop goodies first instead 😉 😜
ReplyDeleteThe whole thing is a cluster fuck. The media and politicians are all so out of touch, with so many things. While he should have rethought his act, like you said, someone cast the first stone to send a message. He wasn't the first and won't be the last.
ReplyDeleteI said it once, it bears repeating, a favorite African proverb. ""The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth". We are already heading this direction get the message.
DeleteCNN trying to control the narrative cause the person who got killed is one of them so they're afraid another Luigi will come and serve people justice, which is why, whether we admit it or not, they are going to have a hard time gathering a jury.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pity he wasn’t able to take out a few more heartless, greedy, thieving, CEOs before he was apprehended.
ReplyDeleteHenny, the way I see it...Thank you Luigi!
ReplyDeleteHe took out a mass murderer as far as I'm concerned, with all his healthcare denials.
Doing what everyone is too afraid to do. He must have did something right, because United Healthcare is losing millions. Point made...Who's next I ask?
ReplyDeleteJake Tapper is intelligent enough to understand the nuances. I can’t possibly support murder, but how can Tapper not understand why so many have turned Mangione into a folk hero? Most insurance executives are self-serving and seemingly heartless and their policies destroy the lives of countless people.
ReplyDeleteIf I were the judge, I'd let him out on bail, and let the CEOs wonder, who is next if we don't change the way we do business.
ReplyDeleteBINGO!!!!
DeleteI'm with you; the anti-hero is something we need now, though I don't believe in vigilantism. All your points are spot on; the healthcare system has been killing Americans for years and now they've lost one of the biggest scum buckets? I'm slightly sorry.
ReplyDeleteDoes Tapper not remember that millions of women drool over, and some actually marry, serial killers?
ReplyDeleteI'm totally with you on this, Mads. 100%
The looks are a minor point...but I did have a side piece years ago who committed a murder and did a huge embezzlement I learned later.
DeleteOMG...yikes.
DeleteIt is sort of tone deaf for Tapper to pretend to be mystified. Anyone with an inkling of what the real world is like knows what's the undercurrent to any given news story. Sadly, our talking heads live in a rarified world. They wake. They tumble into a car driven by someone else. They tumble out and head for makeup and wardrobe. They are briefed - given the bias of the person briefing them as prescribed by those who own the broadcasting company - say this, don't say that. They are dumb bunnies, these talking heads. At the end of the day, they tumble back into another car driven by someone else and tumble back into bed. It's a great life - if you don't mind NOT living one. Which is why they are so out of touch with what's really going on. :) Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteWhat happen to the media having a loose trap and a spine?
DeleteCNN can choke on it. They're not even a shadow of themselves anymore at this point. They're just plain unwatchable.
ReplyDeleteI liked CNN at one point.
DeleteI wonder what Ted Turner thinks of his brainchild now. I liked CNN back in the old days when it had "Style with Elsa Klensch". Cut my cable last year to avoid all the "we don't give a damn if it's the truth or not, we just need the ratings" started, haven't missed it a bit. May pick it up after the Ruskies' puppet is dead or out of office, whichever comes first.
DeleteI was astounded to see that people were donating towards the defence fund of a murderer, however unpleasant his victim, he still had the right to live. After all Mr Big Health Company CEO wasn't a paedophile (as far as we are aware) and you can't get much worse than that, although that is not taking Putrid into consideration. No-one has the right to take a life and that includes governments. Those who rely on the Old Testament "take "an eye for an eye", that the Israelis are relying on to eliminate Gaza, are trying to drag us back 30,000+ years ago to a time when morals were very different.....or maybe not when you could the billions happy to take an eye for an eye".
ReplyDeleteI can agree. But i felt not an ounce of sorrow for his death or family. No tears in the bucket from me.May all the others take note. Stop with the greed and power trips.
DeleteI can't with CNN.
ReplyDeleteBetween their takes on politics and giving MAGAt wingnuts screen time to validate their bullshit without any pushback, I stopped watching them years ago.
XOXO
Very good post.
ReplyDeleteThey call for Mangione’s head, a man who killed one person. That CEO caused far more deaths than that by encouraging denial of care for thousands, and the Felon has the blood of six people on his hands from his call of sedition in Jan 6. Why isn’t CNN and the rest of our “media” upset about those two killers ?
ReplyDelete-Rj
More good points! If the death penalty and more people pulled a Luigi...I bet thing would straighten up real quick and crime would drop.
