LATE NIGHT...TRIXIE MATTEL

Trixie Mattel .
One of my favorite top ten queens.... and I dare say one of the most successful queens to establish herself since coming off Drag Race. She has been steady with multiple projects since the show. Even during the COVID pandemic, she has remained steady. She even stepped in to save the oldest LGBTQ bar in her hometown, and is now co-owner of the bar where she started to perform and took her first legal sip of  a cock-a-tail. last week, she released her newest ditty,  a special cover of a Wisconsin punk group called the Violent Femmes. Mattel's take on the group's classic, Blister in the Sun, is a fun, sunny, catchy tune and energetic. She sings it wonderfully, and I'm all about the Nancy Sinatra vibe. I also wouldn't find doing the crossword puzzle either.

  1. LOVE THAT SONG! Never heard the original so to me this is her song. I think she is one of the best queens to come off Drag Race. She's like a modern day Lady Bunny.

  2. If I can’t drive to the beach this year playing this I’ll be so pissed.

This might be her best yet.

    1. It's already on the alternative charts, and on itune's alternative chart at #8. Not bad considering it just hit on Friday.

  4. Trixie bugs me so much. Like, how can one person have the skills and talent to be a drag queen, makeup artist, hair stylist, costume designer, cosmetics entrepreneur, play 3 instruments, musician, song writer, comedian, actress, tv personality and youtuber. Like seriously??

  10. I loved the song to begin with, but this is excellent. I want the crossword shirt (I'd have to shave my legs for the dress). That eye make-up is perfect. I'm going to watch again now!

  15. I had not thought about this until now: what happens to winners of the show and what constitutes a 'success'.
    Fascinating topic, this.

    1. Well, the winners get $100,000, unlimited one supply of make up and of course the bragging rights. But what the queens do with that win and success is up to them. Some, you never hear of, but others have gone on the be pretty good in the field with their talents and their own singing voices, who I think will go on to be the most successful. In my mind, the most successful winners have been Trixie Mattell, Jinkx Monsoon, Sasha Velour, and Bianca Del Rio. Their talent encapsulates many forms of entertainment and art.

  25. OMG love that song!
Trixie has grown on me. During her season, she was kind of meh but in All Stars she proved to be a smart, witty Queen. I also find her aesthetic super cool, very Valley of the Dolls on acid. Her documentary, Moving Parts helped me understand the artist behind Trixie more, too. I follow her on YouTube. Her makeup tutorials are hilarious and very good.
    She's a winner, baby.

    XOXO

    1. I am OBSESSED with her and this song! But I always did love a good retro vibe. Probably why I love her Bianca and Bunny so much.
