Category is Philadelphia Orchestra Pride!

This past Philadelphia Pride season was one of the best attended Pride yet, surpassing World Pride when they hosted it. And this year it was with honor that the world-renowned orchestra put on its fifth annual free Pride Concert and it was a huge hit. This year Trixie Mattel served as it's host for the evening- between her solo set, a gay Philly History lesson and everything in between, Trixie's charisma, uniqueness, nerve and huge talents kept the Marian Anderson Hall energized all night. The Philadelphia Orchestra led by Yannick Nezet-Seguin, is the one of the few symphonies  in the country ...maybe only orchestra to put on a free concert  for gay pride... and for the fifth-year running. If you ever get a chance to go hear the orchestra...go, they are truly phenomenal. Trixie paied with the magic of the orchestra, brought Pride to an epic conclusion for Pride Month. Carolyn Kuan led the orchestra that night, the Anna Crusis Feminist Choir, Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus, the Voices of Pride and the Trans-cendent Choir of Philadelphia all join in for an incredible program. From Madonna, to Gaga, to Bach to Tchaikovsky, Chopin to Bernstein was performed in addition to Dorcas Leung and Kyle Mangold performed songs from The Notebook

NO VACANCY

I love me a good Entrepreneural drag queen. But unlike Ru, who did fracking on the side, oh shit I went there...Trixie Mattel is probably the most entrepreneurial of all the queens drag race as seen, right beside the Queen herself. Trixie doesn't only performs drag shows, but has expanded into her own vintage clothing line, make line, eye lashes, writes and produces her own music albums, owns a honky tonk nightclub, and has now expanded into the hospitality field with her very own, very Trixie, motel. But this is not your dumpy no tell, motel. It's as bright and effervescent as the queen herself. After the long haul, the Trixie Motel is finally open, but if you're looking to stay, some rooms are open for a brief day or two days, but it's mostly booked almost solid till March of 2023.

The Trixie Motel resides in Palm Springs, CA in the Old Las Palmas neighborhood, walking distance from all the city's main attractions. Back in February of 2017 it all began, just months into dating Trixie and her beau David went to Palm Springs together for the first time, and they discussed the idea of a Trixie Themed vacation rental. The idea came up every time they returned to Palm Springs. Over time they looked at properties, but years went by till they finally found the current motel, and completely gutted it and did a major Trixification on the place. They then contacted the Property Brothers and interior designer Dani Dazy and the rest was history. Of the suites, each one has its own theme. For me it would be hard to pick a favorite, but with a place like this, it would make for an amazing stay. 

 Now I don't know about you all, but I could go and stay at this motel, check in and never leave the property for anything!!! I'd be at the poolside all afternoon. The only thing better could be lifeguards in pink speedos!!!!!

LATE NIGHT...TRIXIE MATTEL

Well last week Trixie Mattel went and did it again. The camp diva released her first new original music of 2021 and a crackling bite of what's to come from the legend's forthcoming new album. Sign me up henny, and be still my heart. With sonics calling to mind Trixie's admiration for the Go-Go's, The Strokes and the Donna's,  and a Gawgeous choreographed video...with some Fosse to the 9th degree, Hello Hello is the next brick in Trixie's road to music domination me thinks. Her last album, Barbara which I got, was overflowing with the vibes of a sun drenched SoCal, and I get the feeling Hello Hello is a wild in your face garage rock retro anthem. I can't lie, her music is right up my retro alley...and it's to be nice and sunny the next couple days...better be sure Ill have the window cracked in the car listening to this. Her music just makes me all kinds of big hair happy. If you ever wondered what's it's like in my head...just watch a Trixie video...

 

Make me wonder if she'll perform the song on Queens of the Universe.

LATE NIGHT...TRIXIE MATTEL

Trixie Mattel .

One of my favorite top ten queens.... and I dare say one of the most successful queens to establish herself since coming off Drag Race. She has been steady with multiple projects since the show. Even during the COVID pandemic, she has remained steady. She even stepped in to save the oldest LGBTQ bar in her hometown, and is now co-owner of the bar where she started to perform and took her first legal sip of  a cock-a-tail. last week, she released her newest ditty,  a special cover of a Wisconsin punk group called the Violent Femmes. Mattel's take on the group's classic, Blister in the Sun, is a fun, sunny, catchy tune and energetic. She sings it wonderfully, and I'm all about the Nancy Sinatra vibe. I also wouldn't find doing the crossword puzzle either.
