I had to get up early today, to go sign my tax papers, and other matters, with my advisor, so I decided since I had to be up early, I might as well go into town and get some sweets at the bakery after. I don't have a sweet tooth, far from it. My go to is usually cheeses, nuts, olives ,water crackers. But when I do get a taste for sweet, Ill gorge... and then thats it for months again. The C'est LaVie Bakery is one of my haunts in normal times, and is very easy to miss. Mostly only locals know it's here, visitors, unless asking for a bakery, would never even know it's here. It is right on the river, but to get to it you need to go down an alley by the ice cream shop.
But once there, they offer up freshly baked, and many things daily, cakes, French pastry, breads, quiche and pretty good sandwiches. The authentic Paris vibe would make sense since the owners are a husband and wife team from Paris, an Chef Joel learned his trade in Paris, almost right along the Seine. Needless to say the whiff of all the earthy delights didn't help me in selecting just one delight.
The fireplace is lovely
I told you I couldn't decide, but I got my just desserts. I will be speaking a new language. I'll be speaking cow.
Moooo. MOOOOOOO. I can't wait to see how much my fat ass will fetch at the market for slaughter.
JFC, your ass is gonna look like mine after you gobble down all those french treats!
ReplyDeleteI was going to ask you if I could borrow a fresh pair or two of bloomers, but I know you don't wear any.
Deletetell him! the french treats he usually is use to aren't fattening.
DeleteDarling Mistress,
ReplyDeleteOoooh La La!!
We are so pleased to be in lockdown and prevented from entering such a place of tempting delights as 'C'est La Vie'. This looks to be a temple of temptation and, clearly, you have fallen!!
As they say, a minute on the lips and a lifetime on the hips..... but oh how we wish that we had these puddings for supper tonight.
"minute on the lips and a lifetime on the hips" Thats the part that has me worried dears.
DeleteI too do not go out to places very frequently either. I have curbed it to once every two weeks for food provisions and sundries, since virus numbers are dreadful. Too my luck, the place was empty but they do have, I was told, a online order service. Should my sweet tooth arise again.
Yhose red, white and blue cookies in the display case caught my eye!
ReplyDeleteThey were the French Flags dear Debs.
DeleteYou do know how to present your box of goodies in the most appetizing way! That cupcake looks to good to be true. How lucky to have a bakery so handy.
ReplyDeleteI'll save you a cream filled goodie!
DeleteOh,...all those photos are gorgeous, especially the one with your napping dog.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great selection of heavenly treats! OMG 😲😲😲 Hand me that box!
ReplyDeleteHaving been in there, I can just SMELL the goodness. Oh you are so rotten to post such delights! I always get their cream puffs, the best I have had in this area... absolutely delightful. Extremely fresh with a wonderful cream texture. Now I'm hungry Mistress.
ReplyDeleteOh dear Agnes! Had I known, I would have gotten one of those too. Hope all is well with William and at home.
DeleteI just gained 10 pounds looking at this post henny.
ReplyDeleteso true!
DeleteIt looks like a real French boulangerie from France. And I love little hidden gems only locals seem to know about. I bet their coffee is good too?!?
ReplyDeleteActually, I didn't par take of any coffee since I was coming back home after, and already had a pot on the stove, but as I recall their coffee is very nice.
DeleteI, too, don't really have a sweet tooth, but those are delectable looking treats!
ReplyDeleteBuster!
ReplyDeletexoxo :-)
I'm drooling! And your ass will always fetch a pretty penny!
ReplyDeleteYour always such a gentleman and say the right thing. But the drooling! Duchess Deedles is right below you!!!! CLEAN UP IN AISLE 4!
DeleteDon't look, Deedles, don't look! See Buster. See Buster nap. Good boy, Buster. Don't look! Don't look! Eat the broccoli! Eat the carrots!
ReplyDeleteToo late. I don't even have virtual self-control. *Sigh*. I want a donut topped with a cookie.
I tried Deedles. I thought that Buster's face would distract you from the sweet, flakey, and crème filled, and chocolate encrusted desserts, with light fluffy icing.... that will most likely melt in your mouth goodness.
DeleteOMG!!!!! This is the kind of place I can be a major 🐷🐷🐷🐷 in! I want to sample everything.
ReplyDeleteWhen Im out and about this in the kind of place I save my calories for!!
ReplyDeleteI just bet it smells wonderful. Today is the day you need a scratch and sniff feature on this blog.
Alas...I haven't quite worked how just how to do that yet. I'm very unsavvy when it comes to techy things.
DeleteI would love to sit in front of a roaring fire and feed you all that bite by bite. Not a feeder, or into food sex... I just know you would make it so sexy... :) Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteWhile I am most flattered by your vision of me eating French pastry sexy, I wish I had your same optimist thinking. And there is nothing wrong with using some whipped cream in the sheets Upton.
DeleteIm trying to diet, and then you post this?!?!?
ReplyDeleteYour an evil whore.
you get any more junk in the trunk, and chi chi larue will want you to be her next big bottom star.
ReplyDeleteI hope Chi-Chi uses a wide angle then.
DeleteJudging by that box of goodies...you like chocolate I see!?! That cupcake looks delicious. Please...I wouldn't pass up any of it.
ReplyDeleteYour right. When the pangs of sweet arrive, anything chocolate is my go to.
DeleteOh, gawd - FOOD PORN!
ReplyDeleteI'm hungry now... Jx
Food porn....man porn....doesn't matter, your always hungry dear.
DeleteAnd just in time for dessert. I'll take one of each.
ReplyDeleteI think this place calls for a visit.
ReplyDeleteDesserts to die for... Let's make it simple, just send me one of each! If Im in lockdown who cares right? Were your nest a water fall? I seem to see one in your background.
ReplyDeleteThere is indeed a waterfall. I was right near the playhouse where a stream drops off and over a ledge... where it then filters into the Delaware River.
DeleteI love places like this! I'm always a sucker for sugar.
ReplyDeleteThere must be a lot of locals/regulars who patronise C'est La Vie so they can keep such a wide variety of tantalising temptations?
ReplyDeleteIf I were in your shoes, I'd have come out of there with at least two boxes. And the box you've got has got room for at least two more cakes - what a waste of space. Or had you already polished some off before taking the photo ?
P.S. Is that koala face on the U-shaped cookie at the back right? (Or is it boomerang shaped?)
It is, well, was a koala face sugar candy that was on it. They had various animal faces on those Almond crescents. Not sure what exactly it celebrated.
DeleteIf I did that I'd need a morning walk the length of a half-marathon. I'd probably keel over before I finish too.
ReplyDeleteBon apetit!
If I keep this up, it'll be my side of beef, and not my milkshake that bring the boys to the yard.
DeleteHi Mistress!
ReplyDeleteI also have never met a carbohydrate I didn't like. It must be heavenly to savour those treats with a coffee on a lazy Sunday morning! I'm pea green with envy, LOL!
It's the first time in a year I was in...and smelled just as good as I remembered. And THAT is what got me in trouble....
DeleteIn reply to your reply to Robzilla: I could teach you, but I'd have to charge.
ReplyDeleteMy milkshake brings all the boys to the yard! 🎵
DeleteI am mad-jealous you have such a place. I would regular go for the bread alone.
ReplyDeleteWell, in normal times, I do indeed go there more often, although I do make a lot of my own bread too.
DeleteGive over! You'll never have a fat arse - you'll simply walk it all off. The bakery looks gorgeous - indulge!!
ReplyDeleteSx
I am a hardcore sweet-tooth, and just looking at these pics gives me palpitations and a form of aroused yearning only a pair of sweet sticky buns can satisfy. I have had to give up a LOT of these type gluten filled sweet foods, but occasionally I'll happen upon a bakery with GF delights and I go to town making up for lost time, followed by a several hour sugar and carb coma and month long rehabilitation program. I've even tried baking some myself but who am I kidding? If I'm going to fold one thing into another, whip something into a froth, get things hot enough to expand, or fill warm spaces with sweet sticky goodness, it's not going to be in the kitchen....
