WINDOW SILL

Here's it is, 12:50am and Rocky, the Flying Squirrel...  in search of late night seeds, on a snow covered sill with light flurries still falling.

  1. Rocky is just adorable! I bet there's enough food under that snow for a midnight feast, nevermind a midnight snack. Will Rocky be able to take off again??

    1. Yes.... She did indeed glide to the tree that is barely visible in the picture. Once on the trunk...you would be amazed how darn fast she is near the top of the tree...and then glides to the next tree.

  2. Darling Mistress,

Oh how we miss the snow!!

Budapest used to have several inches in January and February but, this year, nothing....not even a wisp of the white stuff.

And, what fun to have a midnight feast chum in Rocky!!

    1. This is our real first big snow after two years of really having no snow. It's nice...a good excuse for candle lit evenings and some ginger liqueur. I'd had forgotten you were in Budapest part of the time. My gentleman Warbucks left the state's three years ago and lives there now....but I haven't a clue as to where in the city. Heaven forbid he be your neighbor.

  3. I'd just want to bring him in out of the cold he looks so frozen. But then I suppose he'd try to bite a finger off.

    1. I know what your saying. I always feel sorry for the little critters and fox when I see them....but then remember nature equipped them to survive the elements. She visits a couple times a night. Im sure your cats would love her.

    2. My pussies are only mildly interested in one [or several] foxes which every night come from the park over the road to visit the back bin areas. They don't run away or cower despite the foxes being much bigger than they are, and the foxes similarly pay the cats scant attention. Yet with any 'genuine' dog, no matter how small it is, they'll usually run for cover. Very odd.

    3. When Buster seeing foxes he gets excited thinking their other dogs. He think everyone is his friend.

    4. Yes, it's peculiar how my cats instinctively know that despite their appearance, foxes are NOT dogs - maybe it's their smell - yet a dog like yours doesn't register that it's not one of his own 'kind'.

    Lovely view, btw! 🤍🤍🤍

    1. A Flying Squirrel cutie. And she is tiny. She'd fit in your palm.

  5. It's so beautiful. And it warms my heart that Rocky can count on you. I will not say anything, not one word, about the spring-like day in the sunshine here, not a word. Honestly, I would love to walk out the door into that magical snow right now... and then walk back through the door to my barefoot beach.

    1. Oh i must be nuts...but did take a nice wrapped up walk in the snow yesterday. Something very magical and peaceful about snow and walking in.

    2. I would love that walk. I could no longer live in that climate but a visit and some walks in the snow and crisp fresh air would be amazing.

  6. The snowy landscape is so beautiful. And it’s good that Rocky knows where to find some sustenance in the snow. Stay safe and warm.

    1. I was surprised to see her show up. The poor bird yesterday had a feeding frenzy...and the one of the sill held on for dear life in those winds. I saw more than one junco blow off. Even on the feeders.

    1. If Bullwinkle shows up, I bet it's was my mooseknuckle that attracted him.

  12. I will not be popular for saying I hate squirrels (and I am not alone amongst gardeners around here), they dig up all my bulbs, including a beautiful tulip given to me by a friend, and into the bargain eat ALL my camellia buds

    1. Flying squrriels are a different breed but tulip bulbs are a favorite of regular squirrels. I don't know you saw my videos of Bouvier here yet...but I have one squirrel for years now, that greets me in the morning to get his morning peanut. My mother hates squirrels too.

  15. What a cute squirrel. I also love the snowy scenery. I'll never have that outside my window unless I move.

  16. Not sure if we'll be getting any more snow in Devon, if we do it'll probably be a light dusting, so I'll have to live vicariously through your pictures.
Flying squirrels would drive my dog nuts - he's bad enough with the normal ones.
    Sx
