Americian Horror Story-The Coven....Wholly Smokes

Lately....two shows I wait for with baited breath are American Horror Story and Downton Abbey. The first of the two has started, and what a ride it was. Ryan Murphy started with a huge blow out! Did you watch it? What did you think? So far, it looks like this may be my favorite season yet. What I really enjoy, is that the show brings back many of the same actors, who play different characters each year. It's a testament to these actors to give a winning performance each season playing someone else, and not the same old role. And can Ryan Murghy ever get the talent. The writing is also nice and tight, witty, and even has some good humor to it.

Nice to see  Jessica Lange back for another sure to be, fabulous guilty pleasure to watch. Let's face it, she 's the reason I started watching in the first place.

Kathy Bates. Who knew she could get so dark and morbidly evil? She will be great to watch.

So nice to see someone come to their senses and use this great actress. Angela Basset has been a favorite of mine, and she is going to be quite a bitch to beat in this season. She has got some balls to go up against these witches.

Always a treat when Frances Conroy returns, and has been probably the best chameleon of any of them, looking and playing parts so different. Is it me or does she look like Vivienne Westwood this season?

Gabourey Sidibe is another great acting talent added. Love that she is the human voodoo doll! I think she is going to bring some great humor to the season.

In addition, I think Emma Thompson as Madison Montgomery  is going to be delicious to watch, we will love to hate her..... and later in the season Patti Lupone will be added to play a Piper Laurie "religious type" like in Carrie, and Alexandria Beckenridge will also be returning. And is it me, or is anyone else intrigued by the Bull Man, the Minotaur?

  1. I love both shows, and I love ANYTHING with Jessica Lange, but when you throw in Bates, Bassett and LuPone, it's downright fabooshness.

  3. After you endorsed the first season, I and William got caught up this summer of the first two seasons. What a show!!!! This season had me in stiches when a chic Lange dug up Bates' , Madame Delphine Lalaurie in her period garb and said " Come on, Mary Todd Lincoln. I’ll buy you a drink " Hysterical.

  4. I thought it was a great premirere. Between the Academy, the references to witchcraft being a “genetic affliction,” and the girls sporting different gifts, this season almost feels like X-Men.

  5. This premiere was definitely the most focused of the AHS premieres, and the most fun. Embracing the camp that is often inherent with horror films and reveling in the new trend in witches gives this season the potential to be the best thing on TV. It will be hard for Murphy to top himself after this.

  7. I thought it was excellent! It's going to be a all out war between Madame Lalaurie and the voodoo priest, Basset. THAT is going to be fun and interesting.

  11. What I like about AHS is that it neatly wraps up in one season before it slides into soap opera. I started watching Revenge the first season and the girl was dispatching one villain after another until the show became popular and turned into a soap.
