Fabulous Tura Satana
Is she NOT fierce in the above picture? Tura Satana, a Japanese-born American actress and former exotic dancer, had a authoritative presence, exotic looks and a buxom frame, commanded the attention of viewers of Russ Meyer’s 1965 cult movie “Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!” The lights went out on her as Tura Satana died on February 4, 2011!
Tura Satana was merely 30 in '65 when she appeared in the shockingly non-buxotic Russ Meyer classic Faster, Pussycat, Kill! Kill! It seems like such a short span of time to go from 30 to dead. It ain't right, and I'm here to protest it. Lux Interior is gone, Liz Renay is gone... where have all the good times gone. R.I.P. Tura Satana.
I'm very sorry to hear this. Tura was not only a talented actress, but a lovely person by all accounts. Anyone who is interested in seeing and hearing a recent interview should check out The Wild World of Ted V. Mikels -- she talks about making some of these great old cult movies, and people she's worked with talk about her in glowing terms.
Oh, I hadn't heard that she passed away. Rest in peace, oh Goddess of the Fabulous Figure!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of her or the movie, but girl she is fabulous!
