GRANDE DAME.

This queen is another of my current favorite legends in the world of drag. Storyteller/monologist Miss Coco Peru aka Clinton Leupp got her start as a downtown favorite in the cabaret world of NY after he wrote, produced, directed, and starred in his first show “Miss Coco Peru in My Goddamn Cabaret”  over 28 years ago. Coco hosts an on-going live series of shows at the Renberg Theater in Los Angeles called Conversations With Coco in which Coco interviews and celebrates the lives and careers of the LGBT community's favorite icons which include Liza Minnelli, Jane Fonda, Bea Arthur, Lily Tomlin, Karen Black, Lainie Kazan, Lesley Ann Warren, and drag legend Mr. Charles Busch. Coco’s recent online Youtube videos have been seen by over 2 million viewers. Her video “Coco Goes to KMART,” in which she searches for Celestial Seasoning Tension Tamer tea, has more than over 800,000 views. For this reason, Coco has had to ask her fans to stop sending her the tea. She has received close to 100 boxes! Coco is often seen in Philadelphia and Rehoboth Beach.....and who can complain about her style. Considered The Hostess with that something extra… Coco has hosted numerous events including: She has been honored to be involved with countless Gay and AIDS related charities over the years including The Trevor Project, Aid for AIDS, and Lifeworks Mentoring. In fact, the list is so long, the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center honored Coco with the Board of Director’s Award. The award was presented to Coco by Zachary Quinto. Not to mention numerous movies and tv spots. And if you have seen her shows....your well aware of the lovely snark she throws!
She is also available for children’s parties.

  3. This lady looks familiar, is it possible she was in a movie called Trick? It would be a long time ago however, probably in the nineties.

    1. Yes!!!! She was the drunken snarky drag queen who cornered the lead in the bathroom. Coco was always in the beginning of Too Woo Fong, as Patrick Swayze's rival competitor queen.

  9. I think Norma Lee Drunk and Bob Slatten are both right. She looks like the child of Barbara Feldon and Allison Janney! Out of all of the back up drag queens (for lack of a better term) in To Wong Foo, she's the only one that stands out in my mind. It was such a small part, too! That there is talent and/or charisma.

  10. Fantastic look! And how wonderful she uses her fame for good causes. Kudos to her! You know you're famous when people start sending you stuff for free! I'm guessing a lot of her fans are experts at tea bagging.

  11. I ran across an interview with her where she was talking about other drag queens giving her a hard tim for never changing up her wig. Imagine! That wig is such an important part of her.

  12. Ms. Coco Peru is by far the most fabulous drag queen...EVER! Some of these gals today...I just don't know about. Honestly, they bother me. I'm love that Coco has a strong pov and stay in character.

  14. Jane Fonda is a LGBT icon? Is that because of Barbarella?

Anyway, I like Coco's whole '60s vibe. Barbara Feldon, Marlo Thomas, she fits right in.
