Whether it's enjoying one at a little café, Starbucks on the go, or our chosen elixir at home, it does as much to perk things up as a good man in the morning, or a fresh pair of white briefs. Nothing like the fresh smell of coffee brewing. First thing in the morning, I head the to kitchen before anything, head to the freezer and get the coffee. I grind my own beans and then use my glass Melita coffee pot for a nice slow brew...not one of those contraption things for me...I'm old fashioned....coffee is meant to be slow brewed. And then the smell just takes over.....it's one of the everyday treasures I love....and certainly a must on a Monday, then let the scheming begin.
Ahhhhhh, that's better... and this song helps too.
Have a Great Monday !!!!!
A nice way to start my morning, coffee, Eydie Gorme, and that tasty coffee cake in the white wrapper!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to your Monday post and wonder what the theme might be. This one cheered me up immensely. And a song to boot!!!!! Love it.
ReplyDeleteOMG that old black 'n white photo of the commercial coffee vending machine brought back some bad memories of horrible swill!
ReplyDeletethe hot chocolate from that machine always tasted like a dirty rag dipped in water.
DeleteThey remind me of times when I was visiting at the hospitals....complete swill!!!!! I rather have instant Sanka.
DeleteSanka and a fish sandwich!!!
DeleteYoungest's roomie is a coffee fiend. Very high standards. Youngest is getting spoiled :-)
ReplyDeleteYou grind your own beans? I’m told that makes you go blind.
ReplyDeleteJP
Wives tales.....I still don't have hairy palms either.
DeleteAhhh... That first cup of coffee on a Monday morning is just Heaven!
ReplyDeleteThose two ladies in their comedy turbans enjoying a gossip and coffee is how I'd like my Monday morning to continue. Alas, work always gets in the way.
Coffee (alongside nicotine and alcohol) is one of my amino acids! And Eydie Gorme makes it all even better... Jx
ReplyDeleteThe best coffee is always made the slow, old fashioned way. There's nothing like it (...and the aroma!!!)
ReplyDeleteGreat coffee photos!
As trendy and up to date on things as I am...I'm still old fashioned at heart.
Deleteno coffee for me alas, not until my blood pressure is down.
ReplyDeletespouse brings me cawfee every morning, or there is hell to pay! starbucks house blend is mah drug of choice.
ReplyDeleteBoy, now you have him trained dear.
Deletethat's why they call me warrior queen! (screams like a banshee)
DeleteYou will always be Carebear to me, Anne Marie.
DeleteCoffee...it's a good thing. Even better on a Monday.
ReplyDeleteMistress, you and I may be the only ones who use a Meltia coffee pot, which is similar to a coffee press...but it sure does taste good. I too love this post and adore the Eydie Gorme song. You always find the perfect songs.
ReplyDeleteI love me Melita.
DeleteI can't function in the morning till I get my coffee. I wish I'd seen this post earlier....my co-worker will love it.
ReplyDeleteCarlos makes us each a cafe con leche for breakfast which starts the day off perfectly.
ReplyDeleteIf we have coffee at all later in the day we use a French press because it makes the perfect cup!
PS Loving Eydie!
watch the coffee...it will put hair on your chest.
ReplyDeletehasn't happened yet with her...
DeleteNothing sexier than a man drinking coffee in the morning in his underwear.
ReplyDeleteunless it's your spouse in saggy tighty whiteys...
DeleteYou best get your man some new whities!!!!!!
Delete@Anne Marie: It's not the wrapper, but the gift inside that counts! Now if THAT is saggy, you have my thoughts and prayers :)
DeleteCoffee has never looked sexier. I can almost smell it....
ReplyDeleteI am retired, you know, and the only thing that drags me out of my shut-in ecstasy is errands, which always include stopping for coffee. In San Francisco, I highly recommend Peet's.
ReplyDeleteAnd no doubt, with bedside service??
DeleteI like my coffee with lots of sugar and cream/milk. I don't know how people can drink coffee just black. I drink a cup before work, then two cups after lunch for the caffeine jolt.
ReplyDeleteAt home, I like to substitute the creamer with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. If I have guests who might prefer something fancier than the instant coffee from the coffee maker, I drive to the nearest gas station to pick up the French Vanilla, Irish Cream, and English Toffee flavors that people love.
Oh.....arent you sneaky!!!!
DeleteI sometimes put whipped cream in my coffee when home. I have been drinking, religiously for year a blend from my coffee man at the market, Ethiopian Yirgashiff. My other go to is hazelnut.
@eroswings: Yay, a coffee soulmate! I had a friend who said that if you can't drink coffee black, then you don't like coffee. I told him to back off and let me enjoy my cup of cream and sugar with coffee flavoring. Folger's Black Silk is bold without being bitter.
DeleteI always have coffee with my breakfast every morning. I also like to have a second cup of coffee or a chai latte in the early afternoon so I can get through the rest of the work day. It's a nice little routine I've got going on.
ReplyDeleteI love chai latte and have a pound of it also. I keep that for when I'm not in straight on coffee moods.
DeleteOnly instant here (yes, that MUCK!) - 'cos I can't be bothered with all that 'making it' mullarkey.
ReplyDeleteI think I had instant once. We have one brand here, Maxwell House that's not bad....but only in a pinch.
DeleteI must have tried them all (or most of 'em) over the years, M.M. It always settles down on the Nescafe granules which manages to keep me ticking over nicely.
DeleteOh, Eydie Gorme! Thanks! We had a Melita drip. Then a Braun electric drip. Now nothing. But I've been researching automatic espresso machines with built-in grinders and milk steamers. Otherwise, we'll continue to go out for coffee every morning.
ReplyDeleteI have to habe one cup upon getting up, but nothing like going out to a cafe for one for the social aspect.
DeleteWhere can I find a coffee maker like the one in the 3rd picture, I hope multi tasks and does floors.
ReplyDeleteThat first cup in the morning is heavenly.
ReplyDeleteYou're right - that first cup is a delightful must. Naked (morning boner leading the way); cup in hand, out to the patio. I do however love my Keurig - every cup freshly brewed.
