THE SNOW QUEEN

We waited patiently and we have finally had several snowfalls....I think it's safe to say the Snow Queen has finally announced her arrival and kiss to us.

The Snow Queen-
She stood there dressed in cold white down
as soft winds swirled around her.
Her angelic face smiled
as she surveyed her cold wonderland.
Her time had come again
as it did once a year
to cleanse the world white,
making it seem bright
under the pale moon.
She surveyed her kingdom
and with the sweep of her hand,
she watched as the snowflakes fell again.
The smile on her face
grew in its proportions
as the winter winds blew their deepest chill,
and then the Snow Queen knew
her season had last arrived.
The kingdom was hers again
before it came the time
when her sisters of spring, summer and autumn
would once more again
take their place on the throne.

Pictures taken in and around the Casa du Borghese

  2. Thank you for sharing these gorgeous vistas! What scintillating scenes you've captured! Just beautiful!

I hope you didn't have any difficulty maneuvering through all those hard, stiff woods covered in white stuff, just ready to poke you when you least expect it. And I hope you didn't have too much trouble going into that slippery looking, narrow tunnel.

    Stay safe and warm!

    2. Hard, stiff woods covered in white stuff are my specialty.....it's the slippery looking tunnels that can be a problem hitting a bulls eye.

And look. Now Deedles has to shower because of your words.

  4. Very pretty, but from what I've heard, this Snow Queen chick needs to abdicate!

    1. As much as I like summer and the heat, there is a tranquil, and peaceful feel to the winter season, so you see, I can't possibly ask her to renounce her throne.

    2. To each their own, I guess. Personally, I would prefer having just Spring and Fall. Both temperate climes and yet different in feels. Every season has its own special beauty, and your pictures accentuate this fabulously.

  5. Those are beautiful....but at the same time have a haunted feel to them. I recognize the New Hope Bridge. Sleep tight in your Winter Wonderland.

    1. Thank you! Yes New Hope. The others are the edge of the grounds here with stream, and up at the lake.

  6. This is the only way I take my snow: in photographs. As a Gulf Coast boy who's lived in California most of my life, I regard snow very suspiciously.

  7. All the photos are lovely, but the first one with the sunrise at the end of the tree tunnel is my favourite. Beautiful!
We haven't had any snow. Yet. And most of me hopes that we won't, but seeing your photos makes a little part of me long for it. Snow, that is!

  12. Those are pretty pictures. The Snow Queen is going to pay me a visit on Tuesday. Well, just to the east of where I'm at. We're getting rain, but the snow level will be dropping to as low as 4500 feet in elevation.

  14. What beautiful pictures...and yes, the Snow Queen has arrived I believe. As much as I mind the cold, I love the changes and look of each season. I'd miss that if I live in another part of the country. It too gives a visual as to the time of year. Other places remain the same all year. And when it comes to disastrous weather, we're very lucky. No flooding, tornados, earthquakes, mudslides fires and the such.
