BRIGHT EYES, CHIN UP, SMILES ON!

It's Monday!
Many of my friends have compared me to Effie Trinket, so I many as well live up to the reputation yes? And no, I'm not happy it's Monday, but as Effie would say...
Attitude!!!!!
Speaking of over the top and bizarre style, I came across these fun pieces of art, that maybe me go hmmmmmm. It's called Dadaism and  was an art movement of the European avant-garde in the early 20th century, with early centers in Zürich, Switzerland at the Cabaret Voltaire.  New York Dada began circa 1915, and after 1920 Dada flourished in Paris. Developed in reaction to World War I, the Dada movement consisted of artists who rejected the logic, reason, and aestheticism of modern capitalist society, instead expressing nonsense, irrationality, and anti-bourgeois protest in their works. With our current political situation here, these could all be fun to see again, don't you think?

If only
Happy Monday!

  2. They are pretty out there collages that's for sure. Very cool thought, but a ABBA song might have been a lovely accompaniment.

  3. No idea who Effie Trinket may be - but she looks fierce...

As for Dada, our icon George Melly was a huge fan of the genre - see my blog on the 90th anniversary of his birth for a link to the BBC documentary he did about Surrealism. He famously managed to escape a gang of homophobic bullies by reciting Dada poetry at them at the top of his voice! Jx
