SAY SOMETHING HAT DAY!!!!!

And we know I love me a chapeau and millinery!! For the wedding today of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle we are bound to have many hats hats hats!!! I also am fascinated by all the pomp , protocol, and circumstance. Love watching all the royalty show up  A fascinator is a headpiece, a style of millinery. Fascinators were originally a type of lightweight knitted head-covering. Since the 1990s the term refers to a form of formal headwear worn as an alternative to the hat; it is usually a large decorative design attached to a band or clip, sometimes incorporating a base to resemble a hat, in which case it may be called a hatinator.

Today, a fascinator is worn on occasions where hats are customary, sometimes serving as an evening accessory, when it may be called a cocktail hat. It is generally worn with fairly formal attire. A substantial fascinator is a fascinator of some size or bulk. Bigger than a barrette, modern fascinators are commonly made with feathers, flowers or beads They need to be attached to the hair by a comb, headband or clip. They are particularly popular at premium horse-racing events, such as the Grand National, Kentucky Derby and the Melbourne Cup. At the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton in April 2011, various female guests arrived wearing fascinators. Among them was Princess Beatrice of York, who wore a piece designed by the Irish milliner Philip Treacy, who is the most famous hat designer today.

 And new flash to Serena Williams. You better hold on to that husband of yours. Did you guys see how hot and dashing he was?!?!?!?!?!?!

I also thought Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York looked good for the day.

A SAY SOMETHING HAT DAY!

If you know me you'll know I love me ALOT of chapeau. The bigger the better. I say go big or go home. A milliner these days is as hard to find as a good cobbler in my opinion. But today should be a say something hat day for sure...for it is Philip Treacy's birthday today!!!

Philip Treacy is an Irish milliner and designer based in London. He moved to Dublin in 1985 to study fashion at the National College of Art and Design, where he made hats to go with outfits he designed. From there, in 1988, Treacy won a place on the MA fashion design course at the Royal College of Art in London, where he graduated in 1990 with first class honors. In 1989 he took one of his hats to Michael Roberts, fashion editor of Tatler magazine, and his style editor, Isabella Blow.  Blow asked Treacy to make a hat for her to wear for her wedding, and invited him to live with her and her husband Detmar in their home, from which Treacy started working. And the rest was history.

Aretha Franklin and The Hat

I haven't had time to post yet about Ms. Aretha Franklin and the hat yet. I know my good sister and friend Mamie is in love with the Hat and now stalking it. But I received a email from a friend asking what I thought of her at the inauguration. The Mistress has to say she thought Ms Franklin look very well put together. It was very stately looking and was a very good selection for her being a fuller figured gal, and lets face it she isn't exactly a style icon. The outfit was the perfect choice for the day. A lovely shade of winter grey and it suited her complexion nicely. And the Mistress LOVED the hat. The Mistress loves a good chapeau for any occasion. And I feel Aretha picked up a nice one. She got it I understand from a little millinery in her town of Detroit.The hat was big, but it fit her frame wonderfully.I thought this was a huge upgrade for Ms Franklin! Lets face it she has looked worse!
