BLACK SLEEK MYSTERIOUS

MONDAY ALREADY?!?!?

I swear where does the time go?!? Hope everyone had a glorious weekend! Mine was very relaxing and enjoyable. Although a bit windy, I had to use some extra Aqua Net for the coiffure! With Halloween around the corner it conjured thoughts of black cats.
soooooo mysterious.......

Black cats pose an enigma to people who have never been around or close to them, some actually fear black cats, which most likely stem from folklore from the middle ages and were thought to be witches' familiars. For new readers, yours truly had a cat once. A all black cat with the most jade of green eyes. Starrbooty was quite something and took after her Mistress. We were famous for our Saturday afternoon lounges in the boudoir on weekends. She came to me from Neiman Marcus of all places!!!!! Someone had apparently dumped her and she managed to get into Neimans, where she had been spotted but would disappear for weeks. Finally she was caught and taken to the local ASPCA, by my friend. I had said if she wasn't claimed I'd take her. I mean, hey, the cat had great taste in hide outs what can I say!!! She finally lived at the Casa till her death, where I think of her every Halloween. But it's interesting to read some folklore on them....

-A popular belief is that black cats are unlucky, but in other countries they are considered good luck.

-The Bombay cat, a sleek black cat was bread as an easily adaptable pet, who could play fetch, guard your houses, and venture out on a leash with you.

-Some cats were believed to be witches themselves.

--Since cats are usually nocturnal and roam at night, they were believed to be evil, and supernatural servants of witches.

Regardless of the superstition, black cats have their own large loyal following, who love to be surrounded by their sleek black vessels of love. If you want to read more on my little Starrbooty, just click the tag below.

Starrbooty Comes to Mind

The first day of spring was yesterday, and it reminded me of how our dear departed cat Starrbooty used to enjoy being perched on a window sill in the spring and summer to catch a few rays. For those of you new to the life of the Mistress, poor little Starrbooty passed away six months ago already. You can read the post about how a got Starrbooty here. And as you all know she was a huge fan of David Dust! Starrbooty was the first cat I ever had. Up to that point I had always been a dog person. But now we here at the Borghese abode are thinking soon of getting another cat. I'm not sure yet if we are going to get a kitten or a older cat yet, but it may be nice to hear the purring again beside the purring being heard around here by the Mistress looking at all the hot men. And while we will enjoy a new cat, it is hard to think they will replace the diva Starrbooty was, at least I think. Are all cats diva's?

And here is the RuPaul song that inspired Starrbooty's name.

A Sad Day

Today was a sad day. We had to have Miss Starrbooty put to sleep. All last week she wasn't herself. She had stopped eating the amount of food she usually would eat and was drinking more water. She also started to have seizures where her back legs would go out on her. Through the weekend it got only worst and she took to the kitchen and wouldn't leave. And her seizures made her meow, but not her usual happy one. So it wasn't a good weekend. So,today the Boy-Toy took her to the vet for the Mistress because I knew I would go to pieces. So the call came from him that it was cancer and it would be better to have her put down. I'm glad she didn't suffer to long. Anyhow, the Boy-Toy said when she got the needle to be put to sleep, the nurse said she had to be on her side. Starrbooty was lying in her usual New York City Library Lion pose I called it. Just regal and full of attitude just like those lions. The Boy-Toy told the nurse this cat will NOT be told what to do. So she stayed in her lion pose. And that was it. She was full of attitude and regal till the end. I'll always remember her little face the day we found her at Neiman-Marcus where someone dumped her. I was never a cat person up to that point, but I knew I had to take this little cat. After she was in our abode awhile I found out her and the Mistress and the same attitude and personality. We would always cook together in the kitchen and lie about swankily on the weekend in the boudoir. And did she ever like the beads and feathers and plumes! She would even watch football with the Boy-Toy in the fall season,to my dismay. Starrbooty was a loving cat full of personality and we will miss her.

Speaking of Starrbooty

The other day I got a email asking how did I ever come up with the name Starrbooty for my cat's name. Well,it wasn't rocket science. It is from the song Call Me Starrbooty from Rupaul. Starrbooty was a movie also that Rupaul starred in that was at the Philadelphia Film Festival a year ago. Rupaul is such a diva ,like my cat, and I loved the song so why not call her that and Starrbooty it was!

Just Shoot Me

The next time I decide to do some major home improvement project I am going to post about it first,so y'all can take me out and shoot me,or tell me not to do it! I have painted before, but it has been a while and never though this would take some damn long. All the covering of furnishings, taping off where you don't want the paint, the smell of it,and then putting it all back when your done!Next time a professional will be hired. And Starrbooty was NOT happy in the slightest that her abode was being ripped apart from stem to stern!

I know she looks relaxed in this picture, but this was taken after her ordeal where she had accidentally got her tail in the paint tray, which try cleaning a cat's tail and holding them still so they don't track the paint all over. Afterwards the mongrel swiped this plume out of the closet which was to be used for a Mistress outfit, and ran to the bedroom with it! Kids! Anywho, the major part of the painting is now done, and today is the kitchen which shouldn't be to bad. I do have a sense of accomplishment and have been wanting to do it for a while but I feel like I could have been going fun things! Or relaxing ,as I will be in Long Island most of the week. Which reminds me to tell y'all to have a wonderful week! I am checking out till Friday !

Starrbooty-The Cat

After what seemed like a long day at work,I arrived home ,went through the mail, and turned on the tube. A couple minutes later, our cat came over and started her usual purring and rubbing against my arms and eventually ended up taking a snooze on my chest. It occurred to me,when did I become a cat lover? I love all animals, but always considered myself a dog lover. I have had three dogs that I loved very much. Upon moving to Philadelphia, the boy toy and I considered a pet,but in a apartment it's hard to have a good size dog,not to mention the hours we worked at the time wouldn't be fair to the dog. The boy toy wants to rescue a Greyhound and I want to get a Great Dane. This will happen down the road though. Any who,Starrbooty the cat has become very attached to us,as we are to her. She is very affectionate and what a personality! And a diva. She rules the house like the Queen if Sheba, especially when she lies on the canopy bed! I guess it was love at first sight the day I found her. At the time I worked at the King-of-Prussia mall. One day my store manager and I were getting our morning fix of java, when all of a sudden,we saw this beautiful black cat in the front gates of Neiman-Marcus. She was a little shaken, but was definitely friendly and it was obvious she got dumped there. We later found out she had been in the store for over a week, but no one could catch her,for she was well hidden by staff. So we coaxed her out and took her to our store and called the ASPCA. They came to take her,and I asked what would happen next. They said she was probley dumped off at the mall by her owners in hopes someone would give her a home. They would keep her for three weeks and if unclaimed she would be put down. Well, being a animal lover I couldn't let that happen so I consulted with the boy toy to see if he would like to take in the cat as our pet. I put my best sad eyes forward and batted my eyelashes and it worked like a charm!
After some general health care she was ours! Five years and 20 names later, her name keeps changing like the sectaries on Murphy Brown,we can't imagine our life without her now. I never though I would be a cat owner, and here I am cuddling with Starrbooty. And I tell everyone I got my cat at Neiman-Marcus,where you can buy anything in the world!
