CHRISTMAS EVE

Happy Christmas Eve 🌲 

One of my favorite days of the year. I just love the feeling it has and wished some days, everyday could feel like this. It's been a relaxing day. The Lad and I took the pooches for a lovely walk around the park. We saw several deer, which I had no idea were so close to the mother's house. Could they be Santa escapees? Tonight, I have a surf and turf dinner planned, with the Christmas dinner tomorrow of Roast Beef with Yorkshire pudding. So for today, I'd thought I share some of my favorite pictures from the season from here and Bucks County, that I captured for memories, and some of my favorite Christmas ditties. I warn you, I'm an old soul at heart. Thanks for your friendship and visiting through the year and wish you all a very Happy Christmas. May you be celebrating the way you want.

SEASONS GREETINGS

Here we are....Christmas Eve. I leave you today with just a few pictures of my tree with a ode to the birds I love so.....

Before leaving, loading the car to come home, I came in to find this fellow sleeping and roosting on the window sill. I don't know why but it touched me. Hopefully a sign a good year and peace will reign?

Tonight will find the four of us dinning on roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, then the Mother and I will head home to watch our traditional viewing of a Christmas Carol with some eggnog and stollen. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have peeked into a Day with The Mistress & who have given me a peek into yours as well. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful,  but very unusual year & for always being so kind and supportive, and making me laugh, which was most needed at times. In closing I've shared my grandmothers two favorite holiday songs, she'd  take a listen every year, and I do too. So these are for her. Stay lovely and Merry Christmas everyone!

WEEKEND EXCURSION

Well dear readers, by time this post, the Mistress will have been off this weekend for another out of town Christmas soirée Friday night at my good friends, The Capital Street Duo's, for one of the Dames famous Christmas parties, followed by a New York City trip to enjoy the beauty and debauchery of the Big Apple. This time it's just myself and the Dame going...without his husband...what could possibly go wrong??? 

In the meantime till I return, as your well aware, I DO NOT care for many modern Christmas songs...if I hear Mariah scream and screech through her song again...I'll take an ice pick to my ears!!!!.Call me old fashioned, or 150 years ago...but the classic old ones capture the feeling of the holiday to me.  Here are my three favorite Christmas ditties. Starting with my very favorite...Ray Coniff Singers, Christmas Bride.

Followed by my favorite performer and wife in my head, the beautiful Vanessa Williams singing, I Wonder as I Wander.

And Christmas Eve In My Home Town sung by Kate Smith, is third. It was my grandmothers favorite, and she even looked like Kate, so I'm always reminded of her with good memories.

A CHRISTMAS EVE ADIEU

 Well, the Mistress is packed up and is heading to the ancestral family home for the Christmas holiday for merriment and festivities , where I'll see family and friends , but will mostly be enjoying much food and spirit. Where ever did the time go this year????? And I worry not for what Santa will bring.......I took care of that last week. Could the above really be true??????

  

Christmas Eve's with my family are very nice and are more quiet and dimly lit evenings with mostly candles and  tree lights. My Aunt and Uncle always prepare a lovely Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding dinner, and will round out with some lovely egg nog and almond brittle. And then my mother and I will return to her house where we will listen to some carols and then watch A Christmas Carol . My favorite carol on Christmas Eve?....... by Ray Conniff Singers of course.

  

 

Look at that beautifully lit snow covered tree!!! Something so calming and quite, like their could be no wrong, or worry, or anything bad in the world...........

 

So I am off and will return over the weekend. In the meantime I would like offer my true gratitude to you all for stopping in over the year and leaving comments and making me laugh with some of them. As we gather this holiday season with family and loved ones, we reflect with gratitude on the past year, and look with hope to the future.
