GRANDE DAME

Six-time Drag Queen of the Year Award-winner, this dazzling, legendary "Green Goddess" of drag has entertained us with wild stories, witty comebacks, audience banter and some pretty fine singing, since 1990. Hedda Lettuce proves why she is one of New York City's premiere drag queens and a Port of Vallarta favorite in the winters.

I've had the privilege to meet her on several occasions at shows, and Hedda is never a dull moment. In addition to being a actor, drag queen and singer, she is a queen who actually sings live using her voice instead of lip syncing. Her shows are pure hilarity. This fabulous queen, would you believe, is also a very talented artist, whose sells her colorful portraits of old Hollywood sirens and is also a Interfaith minster?!?! Tis true. Where else can you see a talented queen, buy art and then get married??? Hedda can be seen in Fire Island in the summers at Cherry's on the Bay. And one has to love how she collects tips!!!

One of the best drag names too.

SEEN AROUND TOWN

This week, the Mistress really got around. And NOT in the way your thinking. Between work and meeting friends for dinner, there was no time for sitting and relaxing right after work some evenings. But  with some good chuckles and beautiful scenery who could complain?
Views at the Philadelphia Art Museum.
John Wanamaker's grand organ and tree. As is tradition, the organ and light show still continue, even though sadly, Wanamaker's, a Philadelphia gem is long gone.
My favorite building for architecture in all of Philly...City Hall. Every year it's a festive gathering spot for the tree lighting and watching ice skating in Dilworth Plaza.

You would think at the Betsy Ross House, they'd at least put a wreath of greens on the door.

A beautiful window display for a toy store.
Love Park....where they now moved the annual Christmas Village. The village has all kinds of homemade baked good, and local handy-craft and knits for sale, not to mention hot chocolate and some of the best roasted nuts.

Meanwhile in New Hope, in my hamlet the other night, met my friend Pixie for a nice dinner, and saw the usual odd sights.
Santa...on a stylist Vespa.

Random signs in Love Saves the Day...a quickie boutique. I meant a quirky boutique.
The People's Market. All kinds of  bric-a-brac and jumble.

Then Friday night it was off to the Raven Resort for Hedda Lettuce's Christmas show Lettuce Rejoices, filled with her holiday filth and hilarity and holiday classics. She is always a hoot and she was even still here for our first snow fall.

Any wonder I had a hang over yesterday?

GRANDE DAME...LETTUCE ANYONE?

Hedda Lettuce is known as one of  New York City's premier comic drag queen. Hedda travels trending stages, major networks, films, commercials and in off-broadway works. She has performed with the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Tyra Banks, Vanessa Williams and Madonna and on such television shows as Project Runway, Sex and the City and the MTV Movie Awards.Hedda has also appeared on such networks as Logo TV, the Sundance Channel, and Bravo, and contributes to the GLAAD Award-winning Derek and Romaine Show, which is a hilarious NYC radio show. Locally, Hedda hosts the regularly sold-out shows, Lettuce Rejoice and Hedda Presents the Classics, in a movie theater where she presents old films. Her artistic works are on permanent display at East of Eighth in Chelsea.Hedda Lettuce has had the pleasure of working with numerous charity and community events of notoriety, and you may be surprised to hear she is also an ordained Reverend performing weddings for all couples. While her film work is good, I prefer to see her in person, where her hilarity is never ending. I recently had the pleasure to see her Labor Day weekend here at the Raven, where she brought the house down with her antics. The bitch is crazy.
And let me tell you.....if I knew all you had to do was put your legs up and collect that kind of money....I'd done it years ago!!!!!

The Queens of Drag:NYC

Let the wig-ripping begin!

It looks like a second coming of drag again. First RuPaul will be back with a whole new cat clawing cast of queens in a second season of the RuPaul's Drag Race set to air in Febuary and now another new show is set to begin filming. Producers and reality tv stars join forces to create drag queen comedy with THE QUEENS OF DRAG: NYC. Film and TV producer Larry Kennar (L Word, Barbershop and 50 First Dates), season 4 Project Runway designer Jack Mackenroth and award-winning producer/director and owner of Colt Studio Group, John Rutherford, have come together to produce a television extravaganza called The Queens of Drag: NYC that explores and exploits the glamorous and ghetto-fabulous drag queen scene of New York City.

Drag legend Lady Bunny will reign supreme in this all-star cast of drag divas, which includes the ageless and evergreen Hedda Lettuce

uber-glam Sherry Vine

the hilarious Bianca Del Rio

In addition to these divas, they will be joined by sexpot songstress Peppermint and the classless and campy Mimi Imfurst. Newer, breakout queens nipping at their platform heels like Epiphany, Logan Hardcore, Chanda Lear and Dallas DuBois will join these ladies of illusion. The Queens of Drag: NYC will highlight all the talent and drama that is synonymous with making a living as a drag superstar in the most amazing and unforgiving city in the world. Viewers will see the real grit of drag queens’ lives in and out of drag as they try to dominate the New York nightlife scene and navigate through the struggles of making it in the shiniest, filthiest city in the world. I think it will be great. It will show some people a whole new lifestyle and just how long it takes to get ready, not to mention how hard it is for these queens to be paid to do this for a living. Multiple networks have already expressed interest in the project, and filming is slated to begin in early November. To read more and get some information, please visit www.theQueensofDrag.com. Let the wig-ripping begin!!
