A customer of the Dame ordered them in and then never picked them up!!! And they came in from Italy!!!! I'd never seen them look like this either. But I'm enjoying them, Jennifer.
They almost don't Spo! And they need a new clip, and then a quick second dip in very hot water before they go in warm water every two days, to extend their life. Who knew???
That's why I adored working for the Dane before I found my current job. Her flower shops not like others. All they ever seem to carry is carnations roses daisies and in general varieties. It's very hard to find unusual stems. Of course the area we're in, people usually won't pay the prices either like they did in Philly for the more unusual and elegant stems like these Italian poppies, ranunculus, Fox love freesia and that variety.
Such gorgeous flowers and sharp pictures ... I can almost smell the blooms. I've seen them here in a shop and they are expensive...you have a wonderful friend.
I had thoughts of the Wicked Witch of the West first thing! They are stunning and I love their natural turns and twists. Beautiful quote by the way too and one to embrace.
Pretty. But all that comes to my mind is the Wicked Witch in "The Wizard of Oz" waving her wand and putting Dorothy and crew to sleep..."poppies...poppies....."
Wowza! I had no idea poppies could be so large and so colourful -- absolutely stunning! Will you save the seed pods and try growing them in your garden?
Such poppies would be a wonderful addition to your garden if the conditions are right! If not, you could always roast the seeds for a lemon poppyseed cake that'll let you take a trip and never leave the farm, LOL!
Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen real poppies like that. They're gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteVery Flemish Baroque, dear! Jx
ReplyDeleteDear! There's no way you're back already? We were going to try to plan a great big welcoming home party, filled with nude house boys and party favors!

DeleteThey're almost popping through the computer screen.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful, and I'm glad you mentioned they're from Italy. There's no way those are blooming anywhere in the US in February.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I adore the Dame. She can get flowers from her wholesaler from anywhere in the world in literally two days notice.
DeleteTundra Bunny here...
ReplyDeleteWowza! I had no idea poppies could be so large and so colourful -- absolutely stunning! Will you save the seed pods and try growing them in your garden?
I should try. I'll have to do some research and see what the growing conditions are. Wouldn't that be great if I can grow them.
DeleteTundra again...

You're going to be a bad influence.
DeleteI prefer pansies, myself. *snicker*
