todays sunrise!
Fall’s finally arrived! And, now we begin the countdown to what just might be the most beautiful fall foliage we have had in some years. The journey to fall foliage began late this year... mid October, and this week we have hit the long awaited crescendo peak of the color. By this time next week, I'm guessing the leaves will be all but fallen to the ground. Just last weekend, a lot of the trees were just barely turning, but as the week went on....WOW! Pennsylvania has a longer and more varied fall foliage season than any other state in the nation and one of three of the world -- You may not realize this, but Pennsylvania is one of the best places in the world for foliage gazing. Home to one of the few deciduous forests in the world that displays a full range of fall leaf colors, the views are all the more spectacular when you realize the leaf viewing season lasts about less than a month in Pennsylvania. And this week was one of the most brilliant I have seen in years. It certainly got me off my touche' to go for a walk about in the neighborhood.
Close ups Mr.DeMille, close ups.
The leaves on the ground looks like confetti, no?
I found myself heading over to Kohler Farm to get some more apple cider and their delicious pumpkin ice cream and a few butternut squash to make soup with. While there, I always like to go feed the pen. They are all so cute, and I like when their tongue tickles my hand.
And the day started with one of my infamous huge breakfast.
It's been a swell weekend.
And a huge congratulations to the Philadelphia Orchestra, and reader Robert Joshua Cafaro for a most excellent and amazing performance of the symphony today and what a season already it's opening. The concert was amazing...and I adore the energy and talent of it's musical director, Yannick Nézet-Séguin. It made for wonderful afternoon listening.
Our weather has been so off this Fall that our leaves haven't yet begun to change!
ReplyDeleteSo I loved your photos and trip to the barnyard!
I listened also; yannick is always so excited about the music! BUT WTF with the national anthem played before the concert? this ain't the 4th of july or some patriotic event; IT'S A CONCERT! YAYZ for cello josh!
ReplyDeleteyou captured the colors beautifully, maddie!
I was puzzled by that too, but what glorious music right?
Deleteyep. josh makes beautiful music with our orchestra.
DeleteI like that purplish footbridge. I'm sure it's just the way the light is hitting it.
ReplyDeleteYes Kirk...I do believe it was how the shadows came across.
DeleteI love it when you get all Lowell Thomas on us! These pictures are so pretty. I really like the leaf confetti. I enjoy getting a little tongue tickle myself.
ReplyDeleteYour comment always get a chuckle form me Duchess Deedles.
DeleteYes, Duchess Deedles is a riot isn't she? I may also make her the Casa Jester too. Bwhahahahaha!!!!!!!
DeleteAw, you two are making me blush! I'd say it was a hot flash but I'm well past that phase of my menopausal odyssey. Casa Jester, huh? No way! The tights roll under my front butt, then gently slither to my ankles! My head is also too big for that hat! I do like coming here to play, though.
Deleteduchess, who DOESN'T like a tongue tickle!
DeleteMistress what a fun and brilliant post today! I just said to William I too thought the colors were more brilliant than in years past. These pictures are so pretty. And the sheep and goat are so cute, but I do fear being charged by them. It was a rather beautiful sunrise today. I also noticed a turkey on your table. Is that some antique? I seem to remember one when I was first married.
ReplyDeleteIt was a gift from the Dame. Yes, they have been around since the 30 and 40's from a company called Lefton. We had one to when I was young.
DeleteOh this is so lovely...our foliage doesn't come close to that of PA's. The colors are so vibrant. Wonderful post all around.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the title, I thought maybe we would be getting treated to your revealed goodies....but this beauty works for some of us too.
ReplyDeleteI guess.
who HASN'T seen the mistress' jewels yet!
DeleteYour blog is so full of inspiration...I decided to get off my butt too and enjoy nature and even went into a gay pub for drinks! Loving the sheep and goat.
ReplyDeleteYay....I hope you had a great time! Thank you for the compliment Tim.
DeleteSuch great fall images! That breakfast is delish looking, but isn't this what weekends are for :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures, unfortunately it's "been there done that" for our leaves, they are all off and brown now.
ReplyDeleteIt will be much the same the next week here too my afraid. But keep that snow up there cutie.
DeleteLoverly, loverly pictures! Thanks for posting them. And the farm animals are adorable. xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteWeho has no glimpses of autumn, so I myself appreciate these images very much! No where like the North east for seasons. I myself have ever experienced them...seems to be the same here all the time.
ReplyDeleteOne can never overdose on autumn, in my opinion. So much color and vibrant life. Greta picture as usual, and thank you for listening and enjoying the concert. Yannick is quite the talent. And so much fun to be around.
ReplyDeleteThe changing leaves are my favorite part of Fall!! What a beautiful set of picture you got. The colors are so brilliant. If I wasn't already dating, I'd scope you up for you talent and love of animals alone.
ReplyDeleteWe can never see too many images of autumn. I love the yelloew...so brilliant and how can we not love those lamb and goats?
ReplyDeleteIn fact, I was out early this morning, in the fog and drizzle, photographing the remains of autumn at the park down the street.
SPECTACULAR foliage - I love it! And who can resist apple cider or pumpkin ice cream?? Or adorable farm animals?
ReplyDeleteYour breakfast looks good enough to be a dinner.
And people wonder why Fall is my favorite season. I have yet see foliage like PA or NY. If you cook breakfast like that, Im ready to move in.
ReplyDeleteThose tree pictures with all the colors is just gorrrrgeous, as are those cute farm lambs I hear weekend trips during this period are stunning :)
ReplyDeleteI love those Fall images. I'll never have anything like that out here. Palm trees don't do that. LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat a colorful post Mistress!!!! I always love your photos. The colors are so rich and vibrant. I've got my glowing pilgrim people out and plugged in! Other than that, as soon as the boy scouts deliver my pine garland, then we're good to go! but Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Loves the lambs!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Darling!
ReplyDeleteSo I discovered if I link your blogger blog to my blogger blog (which I do not use) my google identity suddenly shows up so I can comment. Lesson learned. Smooch!
What lovely, fiery, stunning colors on those leaves. Gorgeous! Absolutely magnificent!
ReplyDeleteMarvelous to look at, but I'd hate to rake up all those leaves when they fall.
Your breakfast looks delicious! And the cute little lambs are so precious and scrumptious looking. Mmmm...lamb.
Thanks for the wonderful fotos.
That looks BEAUTIFUL! We're in full Fall blast here in the Midwest and the suburbs are seeing those beautiful colors. I hope they last until Thanksgiving...
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful, beautiful colours!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy feeding the goats and sheep too. Although the little buggers nearly always rip the bag from my hand.
One thing I love about your blog is how your love of life really comes across. You are an inspirational writer. 😀
I was just thinking of you and how you've been, we h as very missed you! I do believe the beauty of nature and or animals neighbors shouldn't be taken for granted thank you for the lovely compliment 🎿♥️♥️
DeleteAh mistress, you thought of ME? Wow! I'm honoured.
DeleteI've been galavanting around Canada. I hit the ground running on my return and haven't had a minute! X
'Merica does have much better autumn colour than anything our native trees give - but even so, I noticed just this weekend that the glorious colours of cherries and crab apple trees, Liquidambar and Japanese maples in parks and gardens here are indeed at their very best... Jx
ReplyDeleteWow, those photos! You're not kidding. Ah, the things I've learned about Pennsylvania thanks to you!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful pictures. And the little critters are adorable. It’s a shame that the colors don’t last longer. And fickle weather here in the Midwest can make the season all too short with rain and windy conditions.
ReplyDeleteAnd no, that is NOT why Chicago is called the Windy City.
You eat like that and still keep your figure. It's not fair!!!!! Great post too. The colors!!!
ReplyDeleteYou had me at the sunrise picture!
ReplyDeleteWow.....the color took my breath away at first. This is why autumn is my favorite time of year. What a great post. I also saw where you were being naughty again.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos, sugar! I think we might have 1 or 2 trees around here that change color, but as Faulkner said about the south, (and I am paraphrasing) we go from fecund to decayed overnight. You can almost smell the overripeness. Then, there you go, it's winter! I like your pictures much better! xoxo
ReplyDeleteEven the trees down here are stunning this year in town. Shame it's such a short period. The post brightened by morning.
ReplyDeleteGreat color!!! I love fall. But now we need a nice sweater and underwear shot dont we????
ReplyDeleteA lovely sunrise. And that second foliage photo (with the little bridge) is beautiful! Well, they all are, really.
