A WELL STRUNG CHRISTMAS

The Mistress is very excited for tomorrow night. My favorite group of boys is coming back to Philadelphia again. Well Strung! You have probably heard of them, or remember me doing several posts on them from my other 7 times I have met them. These guys are so nice and those smiles of theirs, smiles and personality so dazzling, that they can make a bitch faint. Which I did faint. I didn't drop to my knees and paw hungrily at them in an attempt to make them even happier!!!

Well-Strung, a New York City based string quartet, derives their unique blend of vocals and strings by brilliantly fusing mostly classical music with the pop music of today. Well-Strung has been receiving rave reviews at Feinstein’s/54 Below and all over the world, from the House of Blues in New Orleans to the Leicester Square Theatre in London. From Taylor Swift to Beethoven, selections will be performed from the most beautiful and traditional melodies to irreverent “newly-observed “ chart toppers...and everything in between. A Well-Strung Christmas, which will include the most beautiful and traditional melodies, such as Silent Night to irreverent “newly observed” versions of things like I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus and the famous Sleighride, to George Michael’s This Christmas. These guys are not only very talented, but who will complain about them being very easy on the eyes!!

They are all very sweet and personable......unfortunately their also all spoken for.  I also feel these guys are great at introducing a younger generation to classical music in a fun and updated way, by using pop songs with a classical sound. Ever since seeing them the first time in Provincetown, they have had me hooked and I never tire of seeing them. Anyone interested in the Well- Strung concert, it is Thursday evening at 8:00pm at the Perelman Theater. A NIGHT OF WELL-STRUNG

 

Could it possibly be Wednesday already?!?! Your Mistress has been very labored at work.... and has been playing in the marabou feathers all week thus far, getting ready the store and windows for the upcoming holiday season. And if you recall,, the birthday festivities continued this past weekend, where Sunday was a huge set back in getting anything done around here!!!! This weekend the Engineer treated me to a show, dinner and hotel accommodations as a birthday treat, since  I had previous engagements the prior weeks. So it was off to downtown Philly for some frolic. The main event was to see a concert of my favorite guys, who happen to be Well Strung!!!!!!!

Edmund, Christopher, Trevor and Daniel put on another phenomenal show. These guys are not only all sweet, and easy on the eyes, but are some talented, artistic musicians!!!!!! You all should really check them out if they ever come to your neck of the woods. Well-Strung have quickly gained national and international attention for their unique mash-up of string quartet and boy band.  The foursome features classical musicians who sing, putting their own spin on classical and pop music. But there classical pieces are really very good.

 

 

While there, the RazzRoom had their own bar, and I'm here to tell you, I had the strongest G&T'S I ever had. I barely remembering even leaving the Prince for dinner. On the way, I did manage to take a few snaps along the way....

 

I am one to ALWAYS have my camera and phone for pictures, as, I'm known to just snap anyway at anything. As one can tell, the early ones from, well.... the ones after I was lit!!!! I have to say though that the blurry ones actually look sort of cool. Our dinner that night was at a lovely eatery....Tinto.

Followed by for more debauchery and frolic at various lounges and clubs. I was told I had a very good time. Luckily..... I do remember the concert though. How can one not remember when four hunk make love for my ears. Here's a sample of new Well Strung......

 

 

WELL STRUNG- WHAT FINE INSTRUMENTS

This past weekend for Mother's Day, saw the ever talented Well Strung String Quartet back in New Hope yet again, and who WAS I too complain?
 

 

When I saw they were coming back, I thought it would be the perfect Mother's Day  surprise for my Mother. Between New Hope and the Pocono's they have been back several times with their talented shows, and this weekend's show at the Rrazz Room didn't disappoint. The all-male string quartet features classical musicians, who also happen to sing, putting their own spin on the music of Mozart, Strauss, Dvorak, Vivaldi, Beethoven to Rhianna, Adele, Lady Gaga, and more. While they're whole repertoire is phenomenal, I really enjoy their classical pieces, and it's quite amazing to hear their take with classical instruments on the popular standards. They seem to be classical themselves. These handsome creatures also have great senses of humor with their little background stories and their little flirtatious eye actions on stage. And are they flirts...Edmund seems to be the mischievous flirt, Christopher, the hunky flirt, Daniel the classic flirt and Trevor, the flirt with humor.

 

 

After the show there was a meet and greet, time to get cock-a-tails, and time to get their cd. These guys were hospitable, very friendly, sweet and very welcoming. There all so swell and each brings something to this fine table. I thought I'd melt when I found out Trevor  is a co founder of Puget Sound Rescue, an animal welfare organization.  Thanks guys for such another great show!!!

THE MOTHER ARRIVES......

..........YES, ehh... errr, the Mistress will have to be on good behavior.....because dear old Mother will be arriving at the Casa  Saturday Morn for Mother Day Weekend...... and we all now what a hand full she is.....

 

Last time she was here three houseboys went missing!!!!!!! As did some of my fine baubles, bangles and beads!!!! So the Mistress has made the houseboys dress, and told all male suitors to make tracks. All my life, I grew up with such an eccentric and outspoken mother! Admittedly, I used to be embarrassed by her quirkiness. If you watched Queer As Folk, then your familiar with Debbie Novotny. But now I must say she is way cool, and I truly adore her just the way she is and even celebrate her fun openness and smart wisecracking personality. This weekend, in true Mistress style, I have some plans for her. I'm taking her to dinner in New Hope Saturday night, and then it's off to the Razz Room to see the boys.... The Well Strung Boys.....

This will be my fifth time to see their wonderfully talented show, they are quite something to see, and oh so nice to boot!! Sunday we will be hanging around the Casa and I'll be cooking dinner for her, and the Lad will be stopping back again, followed by taking her gambling at the casino here on Monday. So you get the picture, cock-a-tails, men, and gambling. The apple didn't fall far from the tree now did it??? Only this time her luxury motor car is getting searched before she leaves, making sure she isn't pilfering houseboys again!!!!

I have a surprise for Sunday.

NOT JUST A PRETTY FACE.....

 

.......but he also plays with his instrument beautifully!!! I know.... I have seen it on several occasions! He just grabs his stunning instrument and just plays the hell out of it getting me all worked up, often giving me goosebumps and chills. You do know I'm talking about his violin right? Christopher Marchant is a member of the all gay quartet Well-Strung String Quartet. I have had the privilege to see them several times in P-Town and right here in Philadelphia area. But isn't Christopher just so darn handsome??? And a musical talent, what a lethal combination!!! Here is a recent magazine cover he did where he shed his clothes to reveal an oasis in this cold weather........

 

Who knew playing the strings could give one such a ripped body right???? Although I'm sure he does more than that! Anyone know where I put my vapors? I'm feeling a bit faint.......

 

And yet again, I'll be heading out to see them in May when they hit the Rrazz Room right here in New Hope again. Maybe their waiting for a invitation to the Casa du Borghese? I'll make sure they get one this time! Check out their music sometime and their site above, they are all quite talented and easy on the eyes! I and a reader, Anne Marie have been trying to get together, maybe I should drag her.

The Boys were a Smash

 

This weekend couldn't have been better!!! It was relaxing and the weather was spectacular here, which meant New Hope was mobbed!!!! Sometimes the fall weather is the best isn't it? The Fireman and I were off to New Hope finally to see the group Well-Strung at the Bucks County Playhouse. I have been excited to see them again. After some espresso martinis at the Lambterville Hotel it was off to see them. And they didn't disappoint!  It was also nice to see a full house and they were allowing photography. Their performance was very electrifying and their chemistry together on stage is incredible, wouldn't surprise me if their good friends off stage.

 

 

 

 

The show was sprinkled with their talented music and vocals with a little  comical moments to get to know facts about them. The play list was some Beethoven, Mozart, Brahmans, Dvorak and Vivaldi, which were giving me chill bumps to some Adele, Lady Gaga, Kesha, Taylor Swift, which they did much better then her, Bruno Mars and some Rihanna. They also did a version of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You, which is a beautiful song. I even shed a tear I believe. All four guys, Edmund, Christopher, Trevor and Daniel are all easy on the eyes.... but all equally add to the show. Just one not there, and this wouldn't work. I was very pleased with them last night, even better than their first show I saw. They really are just amazing and if they come to your neck of the woods please go see them.

 Afterwards it was off to the Raven for some dancing and cock-a-tails. The Raven was mobbed as it was what they call Tranny night. The local Transsexual Chapter has a night which they take New Hope by storm! And only in New Hope does everybody get along. Lisa and Tammy that I have met before were there so we hung out with them. It's nice to see them getting out and feeling safe here. And the outing seems to just grow bigger everytime! But it's not really a big issue in these parts. It was a fun evening to start fall off with!

From the Candy Shop

This week, in the Candy Shop we have a special treat with some melt in your mouth scrumptious delight......... Christopher Marchant- a  violinist living in New York City. Who knew playing that instrument would result in such huge biceps. I never got those kind of results playing the organ ;)  Since he seemed so popular on Wednesday, I giving free samples today! Chris Marchant who is second violinist with the group Well Strung, grew up singing and playing violin, but was not involved with theatre until he graduated Malone University in Canton, OH. Since then, he has been involved in a number of productions using his talents as a vocalist, actor, and musician. Favorite productions include Tobias in Sweeney Todd, violinist in Spring Awakening, Dennis in Sanders Family Christmas, and Provincetown's Naked Boys Singing. Wouldn't we enjoying seeing that?

I Love Well Strung Men!

I'm very excited! The first weekend in October I'll be heading into New Hope for one of my guilty pleasures at the Bucks County Playhouse. The Well Strung Quartet is coming for a performance and y'all know I love well hung, men, and classical music, so it's a no brainier for me to attend this fine event. They are all very handsome guys filled with talent. This will be my third time to see them. 

The all-male, out, string quartet,  Well-Strung, features classical musicians who sing putting their own spin on the music of Mozart, Vivaldi, Brahms, Rihanna, Adele, Lady Gaga, and more! Their debut show sold-out Joe’s Pub on May 1st, 2012 in New York after being workshopped at Ars Nova NYC in February. Well-Strung stars first violinist Edmund Bagnell, second violinist Christopher Marchant, cellist Daniel Shevlin and violist Trevor Wadleigh. Well-Strung’s  shows are directed and co-written by Donna Drake and they usually play all summer long in Provincetown, MA at The Art House. The quartet was formed by producer/manager Mark Cortale and Christopher Marchant . Let's take a look at the members more closely, like you'll mind.....

 

 

 

Daniel Shevlin (cellist) has had a very varied and geographically spread-out theatrical career. He has appeared off-Broadway in The Sandbox written and directed by Edward Albee, had toured the U.S. and Asia in productions of Rent and Cabaret (Studio 54 version), and has worked regionally as both an actor and cellist in many theaters including the Arvada Center (CO), The Maltz-Jupiter Theatre (FL), Riverside Theatre (FL), and Mason Street Warehouse (MI) to name a few. A New Jersey native, Daniel recently moved back east to NYC after having a much needed and wonderful detour to Denver for almost two years.

 

 

Chris Marchant (second violinist)  grew up singing and playing violin, but was not involved with theatre until he graduated Malone University in Canton, OH. Since then, he has been involved in a number of productions using his talents as a vocalist, actor, and musician. Favorite productions include Tobias (Sweeney Todd, nat'l tour), violinist (Spring Awakening nat'l tour), Dennis (Sanders Family Christmas), and Provincetown's Naked Boys Singing.  

 

 

 

Edmund Bagnell (first violinist) played Tobias in the first national tour of Sweeney Todd directed by John Doyle. Recent credits include Toby in Gian Carlo Menotti's The Medium starring Varla Jean Merman (The Art House in Provincetown), Charlie Brown in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Summer Theater of New Canaan), Charlie in The Big Holiday Broadcast of 1959 written by Joanna Gleason (Fairfield Theater Company), and Oramel Howland in The Great Unknown written by Jim Wann (Pump Boys and Dinettes) and Bill Hauptman (Big River) as a part of NYMF

 

  
Trevor Wadleigh (violist) is from Seattle and currently a member of The String Collective of New York. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, taught viola at the University of Puget Sound Community Music Community and is also a co-founder of the Puget Sound Animal Rescue.
