Few events that happen in our lifetimes are immediately recognizable as being a part of history as soon as they happen, but the events of Sept. 11, 2001, are among those few for sure.
Im a longtime reader, and don't know how I found your blog anymore. But I love the simple message. My name is Didier Elena and I am a Executive Chef at Adour Alain Ducasse, at the St. Regis Hotel.I lived in Queens at the time and was commuting in when the second tower came down. When I arrived out in front of the Essex House, Alain Ducasse and Paul Bocuse were standing there trying to piece together any updates. We made the decision to close the restaurant and as my team arrived, the mother of one of my cooks came to see if her son had made it to work. He was staging at Windows on the World that day to make a little extra money to pay for his wedding. I was the one to break the news to her. We later found out he didnt make it. Ill never forget that day. Ever. Take care.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite aunt was in the towers that day and she made it out-just by her skin. I enjoy everyday since that day and enjoy every moment we get.
