A Day in Lambertville

What a great and relaxing weekend we had here. First of all the Mistress loves herself some Halloween, and on top of that, the weather was just beautiful. Halloween Saturday was spent mostly watching some good old fashioned horror movies, and a trip to the market for this week's provisions for some dinners. On Sunday, the Mistress was up bright and early (yeah, right). She got up late morning (Boy Toy's edit: Seriously? Late morning? Liar.) to get the dinner started before a trip to Lambertville for the day. Mouth-watering ingredient picture here:

After the dinner was pretty much prepared, we readied ourselves for a day in Lambertville, New Jersey. Lambertville is a quaint little town on the other side of the Delaware River across from New Hope. The sister town of New Hope, it's a mirror image. There are many one of a kind art galleries, antique stores, boutiques, art stores and some fabulous dining bistros and restaurants. We took Buster with us so he could do his "dog social" thing. And what a beautiful day for a work through the town! The tree foliage was beautiful and there was just a small nip in the air. These were some of the sites we saw.

One of our favorite places to dine, Lilly's on the Canal. Behind Lilly's was a wild bird of some kind walking on their patio.

Then it was on to the canal, where Buster loved running in the leaves!

A art gallery we passed with some fabulous masks that the Mistress could wear with some number at some point, I'm sure.

The next thing we saw was a beautiful stately home with it's Halloween finery decorating their front yard. It was amazing to see! We were lucky enough to meet the woman who lived their, and she told us how she hand made all the figures! They were not scary, but more like a nightmare in a fantasy land. Very Tim Burton with the shapes and colors of black and white. Very artistic.

It was then time to head home as we were all tired, but relaxed from the day's chill and walk, plus we were ready to eat! The Mistress made her favorite soup - cream of cauliflower.

The soup was the perfect dinner for the day. We had the soup with some grated Danish cheese on top and with it we had a salad of greens, and some warmed French bread. And no meal would be complete with us drunks till there was a nice bottle of dry red wine! Now were ready for another work week. Tootles!

Wow! Great pix! Now, THAT's my kind of town to take an Autumn stroll through. Love the green bridge - it screams "Podunk".

Uh, yay, I don't recall receiving my invitation to that delicious home-cooked meal! Hmm!??

  9. Love the Pics! That house looks amazing. I'm loving this fall weather and your pictures just make me want to grab the dogs and get away. We had Gay Pride down here in ATL this weekend and our parade was Sunday... have to admit it was not as boisterous as years past. I will just put it down to the fact that it was the day after Halloween!
