...Or lack of!!! While I have healthcare, I have used mine for mostly general maintenance and preventive, which is all on them... as I have had thankfully no major health concerns or emergencies to date. But I don't disagree with this guy!! And I have heard this from several friends happening to them. Yet another thing these insurance companies are getting away with. I have one friend who flat out has not paid for his bill when it happened to him, and that was five years ago. Preach it brother.
This country to ready to explode. Maybe it's the only way things will change. As I shared a African proverb with Melanie the other day. "A child that is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel it's warmth." How much longer do we take and accept what we are being dished out???
He is so right.
ReplyDeleteIt's disgusting that people are getting rich off other people's health crises.
He's not wrong. They're greedy motherfuckers. Sadly, THIS is part of the reason people voted for The Orange Idiot --- they think he's going to change all of that. LOL. He's only going to increase the financial pain on all us little people. As for the Medical Insurance Industry, we have the Reagan administration to thank for this load of horseshit. His buddy owned / ran Kaiser Permanente and convinced the administration (and Congress) that health insurance providers should be allowed to make a profit. Boom! Here we are: people going bankrupt over medical expenses.
ReplyDeleteThis happened to me as well. Dermatologist was in-network; she sent my lab work to an unapproved provider. I am still fighting w/them. I did submit an appeal to my insurance company; they're thinking about what to do, I guess. Still getting bills from the lab company, which I am refusing to pay. So ridiculous but seems to be a common issue anymore. (And $12,000 for lab work? Oh my god. Just shoot us.)
ReplyDeleteIf you voted Republican, than you voted for this. They are the party that wants to privatize Medicare meaning seniors and people with disabilities will be paying more. This is why Luigi was just the tip of the iceberg. Nothing will change under Trump. His loyalty is to his billionaire buddies.
ReplyDeleteAnd as it is privatized they’ll go back to denying coverage for pre-existing conditions, and they’ll make sure everything that ails us is a pre-existing condition. -Rj
DeleteWith all due respect....your right. But politicians in general have done nothing to stop the heath insurance companies stay checked. It's gone on too long, even when either party has had all three branches of the government. Much like the minimum wage.
DeleteRise up, Americans, rise up!
ReplyDeleteAnd they wonder why people consider Luigi a hero!
ReplyDeleteNo lies detected in that video. I pay quite a bit in monthly premiums, but at least my lab work is only about $120 at most whenever I'm charged.
ReplyDeleteI've had two major operations in the past 15 months and I have oodles of meds every month and I pay not a penny. Perhaps if Donald Duck starts invading everyone, the EU will in turn invade the US and you'll end up with free health care, sick pay, state pensions, 5 weeks holiday, pair parental leave etc..
ReplyDeleteAmerica can but dream of being so fortunate. Imagine, an entire nation suddenly being taught how to speak the English language correctly? 🤣🤣🤣 Jx
DeleteWill it ever change for the better? It seems to get continually worse. So glad we moved to Spain when we did!
ReplyDeleteI get it. The price we pay for healthcare in this country is ridiculous. I had to have a medical (as opposed to a screening) colonoscopy/endoscopy in 2024. I did everything in network. It was all approved by the insurance company. But my share for the procedure and the anesthesia was about $1,200. Labs cost about $250. That's not crazy like the experience of the guy in the video, but it's a lot of money for someone like me, who doesn't earn all that much. My employer changed the company that provides our prescription coverage for 2025. I'm already learning my prescriptions are about 3x more than they used to cost and I take quite a few maintenance meds. It's rough.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
We pay way too much for healthcare than any other country with poorer results. Many people avoid going to doctors even when insured because of the costs, which leads to more emergency room visits and more comprehensive, but very expensive care.
ReplyDeleteWith public socialized medicine like in Europe and Japan, people see their doctor as needed and as such these countries save billions in costs.
Japan had private medicine until the costs got so out of control, that companies like Toyota and Mitsui warned their government that the costs of medical insurance was going to drive them into bankruptcy. Since then Japan has saved billions of dollars in health costs, America needs to do the same.

I am terrified that my health insurance costs ar going to skyrocket and my meds are going to start being denied. This is all life saving care I need to function and live. I am know questioning every doctor visit, test, exam, and Rx to make sure it is necessary and not going up in price.

I I lived in Paris as an American for several years, before settling in New Zealand , and this guy's exactly right. I don't know what's going on but the US is shooting itself in the foot, and soon it's going to be one of the worst countries to live in. It's actually very painful to watch.
ReplyDeleteI saw a show just today where a doctor was in mid procedure to take a call from an insurance company to say they would not be covering a life saving operation one one of their insured. The doctor was appalled.Had to scrub up again . if I was this guy I'd sure them.
ReplyDeleteAnd your right....this country is ready to pop and soon. French Revolution anyone?
This happened to a woman on the news, and she called and threatened her insurance company and the FBI investigated. But yet when insurance companies don't approve the medical bill or bankrupt someone...or worst yet....the person dies from lack of denial....those same companies aren't investigated. That to me is committing murder. But America has never been greater.
ReplyDeleteThe country is certainly making its bed....I will say that. And as a Democrat, if we ever do get all three branches of government back, they better settle this issue once and for all. In the past when we've had all three branches we still didn't get stuff passed. And if it doesn't get fixed then we will have our answer that everyone is in bed with the insurance companies.
ReplyDeleteAnd to think, the American Revolution was triggered by colonists' resentment of having to pay a 5% tariff on imported British goods such as tea and paper without representation in the English Parliament... it seems to me that the majority of Americans still have no representation in their government!
