The first President I can really remember clearly in my youth. And I surmise the last down to earth, honest, states men and humanitarian, and one of the biggest advocates for peace. Presidents since should be as lucky to be as beloved as President Carter. Many lessons and things to be learned from listening to Carter. Now he's with his beloved wife.
" We cannot be both the world's leading champion of peace and the world's leading supplier of weapons of war."
"We know that a peaceful world cannot long exist one third rich and two thirds hungry."
"If you don't want your tax dollars to help the poor. then stop saying you want a country based on Christian values, because you don't."
President James Earl Carter Jr.
October 1, 1924- December 29, 2024
A man of great integrity and impeccable ethics. How far this country has fallen gradually since.
ReplyDeleteA thoroughly good man! Proud to have been an early supporter of his.A different breed of man, and certainly a better man than 99 % of politicians elected since him.
ReplyDeleteI'll miss his example.
...peace, human rights, and unselfish love....
ReplyDeletePresident Jimmy Carter will always be remembered as a good man.
His single term remains the shining light example for all who succeeded him, both one- and two-termers. He'll long be remembered with affection - and deservedly so.
DeleteI agree with that Raybeard.
DeleteSome great quotes from Carter. Perhaps they should be re-read to current politicians??? I think we have lost a great humanitarian, perhaps too compassionate and intelligent to have been President. Intelligence is not an absolute requirement to be President, just look at what we will have leading us in a few weeks.
ReplyDeleteRIP President Carter.
What a great President! If only we had more that thought like him! I want to hear about Africa, if I missed a post about it, please send me the link or shoot me an email.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you, Mistress!
Wasn't he though? He got it. Yes, I have done several post already. Ill email you the links if a get a chance toots.
DeleteThe only down-to-earth, decent, and truly human president I experienced in my lifetime. And after the presidency he continued to grow in stature.
ReplyDeleteCondolences to his family. He was a truely good person, the kind that generally doesn't get involved in politics, especially these days. Rest peacefully with your beloved Rosalyn. I wonder if his one grandson will follow in his steps? He reminds me so of Jimmy Carter.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure Agnes. Im not sure I see a Carter dynasty.
DeletePresident Carter. First president I voted for. He was a super humanitarian.
ReplyDeleteA man of moral integrity. No wonder he was an endangered species in politics, even then.
ReplyDeleteAnd sadly since him...I fear extincted.
DeleteA life of service.
ReplyDeleteHe was, and will always be, a hero in my mind, for the way he stood up for peace, for the LGBTQ+ community, for the poor, and for everything he did, both in and out of office.
ReplyDeleteIm sure he, JFK, Turman and Johnston are wondering where is the Democrat party gone.
DeleteWhen he held office, it was filled with everything that office stood for, integrity, honor, dignity, decency. That was a time when respect wasn't a bad word, when two parties saw each other as people, those were the times of patriots, and the US stood strong together.
ReplyDeleteRIP Jimmy for being you.
Jimmy Carter was a CENTRIST DEMOCRAT. And a good one. Much like the republican party, the democrat party is also a different party then it was. I have the feeling Carter loathed where our party has gone.
ReplyDeleteTruly a public servant.
ReplyDeleteThe peanut farmer from Georgia, who was so heartily ridiculed, became one of the most revered. RIP, Mr. President.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with that last comment, although many an oligarch would disagree with it.
ReplyDeleteOf course the oligarchs wouldn't. What would we expect from power hungry, greedy bastards?
DeleteWhen I think of what we have coming as our future leader, the word "antithesis" comes to mind, if ever two men were so completely opposite the other, it is these two presidents. For every benevolent word used to describe Jimmy Carter there are dozens of malevolent words that are true of #45/47. My heart aches for our country and the choice that was made on November 5th 2024.
ReplyDeleteI agree Milleson. I gather it is going to be like watching a dead horse getting beat. I can only hope that the party implodes on itself and in biting power hungry , backstabbing and chaos distract them from getting anything done. And that wouldn't be far fetched. I think they are already getting in disarray......
DeleteJimmy Carter was the rare person who refused to profit from the presidency.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Here! Here!
DeleteAnyone who thinks they're a "high value man" pales in comparison to this one. RIP, Jimmy.
ReplyDeleteI remember Carter being blamed for the high inflation we had in the 70’s, just like with Biden today. People forget when you spend trillions on wars (remember Congress always pays for wars on borrowed money) later on the bills come due and inflation is the result ! Viet-Nam and the Mid-East wars were an expensive waste, waste that brings on inflation.
ReplyDeleteJames Earl Carter Jr, a great President and a decent man of honesty, integrity and humanity. -Rj
You're absolutely right RJ, hence why I put his one quote in there. You can't be the world leader on World Peace and the world leader on supplying weapons for war. I think a part of that is what partially her Kamala Harris.
