PS Just realised that the pun in the name of the real-life 80s Soho Club would be lost on Americans. Over here, we never call them "beets", they are known as "beetroot"!
I like beets and used to drink beet juice nearly daily. Then I heard that for we diabetics (type 2, in my case - thankfully) it's advised as an only-now-and-again and not to overdo it, so that's what's it become. At least it's not quite an advised "avoid-wherever-you-can" like bananas or grapefruit, both of which I've said "tata" to with some regret. But ROASTED beets? (Thanks Dave R, above). Mmmmm - must give it a try.
Beets are great roasted!
ReplyDeleteThey are Dave! And I enjoy pickled eggs and red beets too.
DeleteEw. Ew. EW!!! I hate beets. There's no way I'll dance to them.
ReplyDeleteBeets are full of anti-oxidants and vitamins too! They'll cure what ails ya.
ReplyDeletelove vegetables a lot! I think that "rich" humanity should eat much less meat. Made of meat/flesh, I just want man/men and his/their dick/s, please.
DeleteIf i eat meat...it at least twice month. And Debs....yes beets are pretty darn good for us!
DeleteAs long as I can dance without eating a beet, can I come in???
ReplyDeleteDid you mean to say dance without missing a beat? Lol!
DeleteI can only eat them pickled. Any other way, and they're sickly... Jx
ReplyDeletePS "Le Beat Route" was one of the coolest clubs of the early 1980s - the home of Spandau Ballet, Boy George and the rest.
So see a disco club named Good Beats would be a cool thing. I shall put you on the weekly guest list.
DeleteGuest of Honour, surely?! 😎 Jx

ReplyDeleteYes, by all means, if you like beets you'll love roasted beets then. I have even ate died beets chips. Much like a potato chip, but made with beets.
DeleteTa, M.M.
DeleteMichael Jackson and Weird Al could provide the music.
ReplyDeletewhat? a random post...are you in the rot gut gin again?
ReplyDeleteI'm with MWM; not my favourite vegetable by any manner of means. My mother used to make bortsch - yuk!
ReplyDeleteOk in fairness bortsch is blahhhhhhhhh.
DeleteNever tried them roasted. Hmmm. May have to do that. BTW - it would also be a good name for a rock band.
ReplyDeleteHmm Fresh Beets. nothing better in the early fall.
ReplyDeleteOver the weekend somebody at the woods told me my ass look like a nice round carnival squash. I understand they have a nice buttery sweet taste.
DeleteMistress...you are a pill and a crack up!!!!
ReplyDeleteNot me. I'll pass on the beets.
ReplyDeletegive me a couple of nice big roasted beets and a really ripe and ready carnival squash and I will chow down and be happy as can be
ReplyDeleteLove beets.
ReplyDeleteLove 'em.
XOXO
I too like beets. Someone does not. When they come on our salads, I quote 'Harold and Maude' and say Harold eat up your beets' which he never does.
ReplyDeleteYou can't beet your meat 🥩
