EARTH DAY

Earth Day, a day to raise awareness, but as you know, I feel we shouldn't need a day for this, but should be practiced every day. But time this scheduled post goes live, I've already spent much time cleaning up two alleys in Harrisburg that were littered from disgusting humans. One lady looked at me like I had two heads. I also talked my friend at his flower shop,  if his flower distributors accept back our delivery boxes, which we get daily. The good news...they do! Now we send back all boxes we receive so they can be used over again, plus they even give credit toward next orders if you return the boxes. He had no idea!!!! It's small but made me feel better. Some days I feel good about things, but deep down am very saddened by things in the environment, land preservation, and we continue to pollute the air and water, take more and more land, and a real sore spot with me...preserving our animals. Both political parties should be doing far more, but like most basic of living necessities and living conditions gets pushed to the sides. I fear we do not have time...roads, pollution and our endless greedy appetite for animals are truly destroying this natural world and all of the wonderful beings who live it. Not a day goes by where mercy is shown on the pavement to them from humanity. New bodies constantly litter the asphalt, or are littered in woods and jungles in traps, snares, and other trappings. Our gluttonous appetites seem to eat anything that moves. But what is humanity? Some say the most intelligent life on Earth. I would call it THE disease. A disease that is hell bent on taking everything that it can, so much so that it eventually will consume itself. The Earth is a fine-tuned living machine and takes every living thing to contribute to the workings of it, and most animals serve a purpose and add to things continuing. Same with plants.  How anyone can have disregard for bettering the life of the planet, environment and the animal kingdom baffles me, and I have no time for them. Call me strange, but I have no problem with Mother Nature taking back the planet. And just when we think we can't make a difference, any little bit helps. So many ways to be involved, or ways for better living, recycling, wind power, environment clean ups, supporting green candidates...remember we share the planet with others, it's not just ours. Hopefully it will be a nice day in your zip code to get outdoors and observe the day, doing something to commemorate the day and take in the nature, even in our own backyard. A scheduled post...I will return.... Happy Earth Day!

  1. Such beauty and we're still fucking it up, even knowing the consequences.

  2. HERE! HERE! Henny! It is appalling the number of animals that will be extinct soon.

But the anger keeps some of us going to care.

  3. If that last picture isn't enough to inspire everyone, I don't know what it will take. I just wish sometimes we never left the part of the pandemic that was bringing the nature back. It was clear, quiet and did good. *sigh* now it's all noisy and polluted again.

My girlfriend and I are helping in a park today to plant some trees and plants.

  4. Happy Earth Day!!! I like the anger and passion in this post.

It, unfortunately many more aren't. Humans just consume everything in their path, most likely till nothing is left.

  7. Today is a good reminder of how good the Earth can still be, but we're screwing things up in the name of consumption and greed.

  8. Fantastic photos reminding us what is at stake if we don't control ourselves.

  10. Sadly those who care abut the planet are overridden by the politicians, trillionaires, companies etc., that are all obsessed by greed - profit overruling good sense. Water shortages loom, food security looks perilous and still the 0.0001% have not got enough money to satiate their desires for more and more toys.

  11. This was fab, Maddie.
Thanks for doing your part and for raising awareness towards conservation. So many people are just not interested, that it makes me furious.
Reuse, recycle and repurpose. Every time you can.

    XOXO

  12. Lovely photos and a lovely day to celebrate! I, more and more, don't believe humans deserve all the beauty and majesty provided by mother nature... we are a scourge upon this planet.

    1. You would have thought we'd all learned something during the pandemic and watched Mother Earth heal herself right? Nope.

  13. I don't think you're at all strange! I wish more followed your line of thinking. It was lovely to not hear jets on a landing approach and even local road traffic was greatly reduced.
Here's to more clean thinkers like us!

  14. Your right. The GOP doesn't think the climate crisis is man made and Biden is drilling more I hate to say more than Trump, and starting an oil war with Russia in Ukraine. Both parties are not helping as much as they should. I'm glad young people are more involved with this huge issue.

  15. We are currently living in the modern Atlantis, aren't we?

I agree with all you said. And inspired me to check on all our cardboard waste at the shop I'm at.

Excellent post and reminders for the day and always. As always, the elite could do many good things, but will we wait for them to part with their greed to do something??? We are the ones who buy things from big corp that are wasteful. We have a huge amount of power, but we don't use it.

  17. Exactly and always on point girl!!! It's hard to be happy on Earth day, when all we see is people wanting more, and developers taking more and more land!!! How about population control???

Meanwhile you sOOOOOOO nailed this season of Drag Race, once again.

  19. I just read a tweet that pretty much sums it up "Earth Day at this point just feels sarcastic". I was torn between Lady Camden and Willow Pill last night, because I liked them equally and would like to have had two winners. It kinda turned out that way as both got prize money. Simone showing up dressed like she was going to the mall was a disappointment.

    1. Well, I had the feeling Willow would take the win!!! Or Camden. I too was not happy with Symone's look. She feels she has to do the urban thing 24/7. Loved the hair, but that ensemble had to go......just because it was in her size doesn't mean she had to wear it.

  20. Love your Earth Day photos, Mistress! I agree with your points and commend you for your initiative with the delivery boxes -- do all florists in your area know about this? Humans have to stop thinking only of themselves or their immediate families Environmental impacts, both good and bad, are CUMULATIVE. Ecosystems are very resilient and will recover faster than one might expect once the damage or over-harvest is stopped or severely curtailed. Animals and plants don't require human assistance to reproduce, feed or raise their young. As a fisheries management biologist, I quickly learned that the job had less to do with fish biology and more to do with human behavioural management!

    1. Tundra, you certainly have a colorful and interesting background. I could sit and listen to you for hours, I'm sure. I'm not sure about other florist, but I do know most of the major flower distributors will take their boxes back to use again I found out.

  21. A wonderful post! I appreciate your efforts to make a difference with the box reuse and alley clean up! I hope the woman who looked at you strangely went back and reflected on it and realized that at least YOU are trying to make a positive difference in the world and maybe she ought to give it a try in her own way. One can hope. Everyone can do SOMETHING to make the world a little better.

    Thank you!

    Great pictures as well!

  22. An inspiring post. I should have some of my friends read this. It's like an uphill battle these days like so many other things. If these pictures of the planet don't inspire, that person viewing must be missing a pulse or just cold blooded.

  28. You know I'm in complete agreement with you. When they had the initial harshest of Lockdowns with Pandemic, remember how Earth and her Creatures rebounded so miraculous with us pesky Humans out of the way? The Man and I do Environmental Cleanup all of the time, many people do Thank us but far to few people participate in making even the smallest difference. We can go back to the same places over and over again and have to clean it all up again. Sometimes there is a Silver Lining to the volunteer work... in one area of the Preserve where it's illegal to go off road with their vehicles, but they do anyway, wrecking the fragile Ecosystem, some fool lost almost Four Hundred Dollars and we found it blowing around in the Desert! Happy Earth Day my Friend, and Thank You for being an Advocate of Mother Earth and all her Creatures.
