HOME SWEET HOME

After being gone for almost over two weeks in Norwalk, I can't tell you how nice it is to come home to the Casa du Borghese. While travel and being cleaned up after is wonderful, nothing beats your own home sweet home. Friday when back I was right off to see Smoke and Mirrors at the Merriam with Sasha Velour, but the rest of the weekend was much needed to relax, though I will be trekking shortly to see Bunny & Co at the Filmore later tonight. Otherwise it was a sight for sore eyes to be back home finally and relax. More than anything else I missed my own bed the most, complete with 16 million pillows!!!
...cut flowers.....
and candlelight.
I did a few thanksgiving touches... got out my porcelain turkey the Dame gave me.
Went to the market and got me some Brussel sprouts and asparagus. I can often make a meal of just that in the evening. Steamed lightly, then grilled with garlic, olive oil, and parmesan cheese. YUM!
Made two chicken pies from my aunt's recipe. I took one to my neighbor Brice.
Glad to be back and enjoy my own slow brewed coffee.
I usually take that to work with me. I mean Starbucks can be a stressful thing people. Have you been in one of their lines? First you have the crew ordering for 8 co-workers. And the order is never just easy. Every one of them is some special, highly coded lingo order, some special government code or something. I'm not sure they are even speaking English. And looks like the barista's are making some kind of science experiment.   Then after them, is the hipster complaining the coffee is not to the degree of temperature it's suppose to be. Next in line, is what I like to call the lady with the " I want to see the manager hair style look." She will complain that the bagel she ordered doesn't have enough bran flakes on it. Common people, all I want is a regular coffee with cream?

But I digress.
Enjoyed some fresh eggs, And I think you already met Butter Turkey. It's now history.
Here's a cutting board the Mother made and painted for me. It came when I was away. She knows the Casa well :/
While cooking, I also got to used a lovely tea towel good blogger pal and friend Debs sent as part of a thoughtful gift. I think she too knows the Casa well.
Never enough flowers!
But what I missed the most was just running around and  lounging in my briefs!!!! Some days I hate wearing clothes. I forget what it's like to have someone around all the time. I had a roomie while away on my work trip. Not that that mattered.
And the junco's have returned!!!!!
Once they return, I know winter is coming then.

  4. Love this post! I always love seeing your place. It's a haven, and not just somewhere to flop at the end of the day. Your bedroom is luxurious...I'd never want to leave that bed.

  11. Here in my apartment it's small enough that I don't have a fave spot, I like the whole thing. I also love the dark blue walls in the bedroom and the brown in the kitchen. Very elegant. I see you also like tanish briefs! There sexy!

  14. There's nothing like home.
I just spent three days in DC and even though it was awesome to sleep in a hotel room, with its crisp sheets and blackout curtains, I miss my own bed and my nightly routine.
I'm so whacked out of the loop that I'm writing this in the middle of the night.

    XOXO

  15. Everything looks so wonderfully warm, creative, and inviting. The chicken pies are fantastic! I love that porcelain turkey.....and I'm envious that you can lounge around in briefs.
My rural abode is so damn cold that I need long underwear and buffalo robes.

  19. Love, love, love that squirrel! I'd have quite the menagerie if I could.
T-day is stressful for me, as is the rest of the holiday season. I would be perfectly happy to cancel it all; pretend it's simply another day. Alas! the wife and in-laws are solidly insistent on the big meals and celebrations.
Looks like quite the nice giblets behind the briefs...sorry you had a roomie! Well, home again you can let it all out.
