Over the weekend, I got together with good friends, Bob and Bruce for the 2017 Autumn House Tour over in New Hope's sister river town, Lambertville. The weather was not the nicest, but a good afternoon all the same. No rain, so that at least saved my coiffure. I always love the autumn tour, because the closer it gets to Halloween, the residents really break out the stops and gets ready for the spooks and scares. The best part is actually seeing in these homes. Many residents actually preserve the original era of the house, while others do a complete gut and make for a more contemporary interior...but done right. Most of these home all date mid to late 1800's.
A lovely windowbox....
I understand the rats are hard to kill here...
Coffee break in town at the coffee shop.....
I had to snap a picture of this for The Dogs Mother......
On a good potion of the lawns in town, at least every other house were these....
Is it any wonder I love this area so much?!?!?
Looks like some lovely homes out there. Where is New Hope? Is that Minnesota?
ReplyDeleteDr Ken....New Hope is outside of Philly by 35-45 minutes. Both towns are river towns along the Delaware River between Pa and Nj. Both towns very rich in history back to the 1700's. And filled with colorful folk ever since.
DeleteWow! Gorgeous houses and those last two - Halloween extraordinaire!
ReplyDeleteHere! Here! The area is to be applauded for there not accepting hate. We were in the area last week and saw these signs in great numbers. We too adore the area, but missed the house tour this year.
ReplyDeleteWith rats like that, I suppose rat traps aren't a damn bit of good. Beautiful homes!!! Sweet old town.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tour and homes. Such a great area to be in, in the autumn. Now, in that coffee shop, there is a guy that works there with a great ass, am I correct???
ReplyDeleteI have been once, I can still remember all the open welcoming people and the artist and art galleries. Love the Hate Signs!
ReplyDeleteI love the homes you showed us, and I especially liked the rat skeleton. I wouldn't mind having that on display for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteI also love the last picture with the sign. My 'hood is the opposite of that. Lots of people flying American flags every day 24/7 and it ain't no holiday.
I have fallen in love with the area through you! Before following you, all I knew was that my mother liked to shop in New Hope. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to get a sign like that for months; sold out they tell me. and yet we could use so many many more...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I just saw an article and it stated that the area of bucks county as one of the trans friendiness communities to live in the county. Accepting and beautiful. I'd love to visit one day.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun afternoon, very nice place.
ReplyDeleteNow I think you are trying to make me homesick for the east coast.
ReplyDeleteThose places are expensive to restore and expensive to maintain. But, by golly, it's great that people have done so. The East Coast crowd has a higher sense of history than the cowpokes 'round these parts.
ReplyDeleteYour right. The house that is fourth from the bottom of the post was bought for 1.5 million and then another mil in renovations.
DeleteI love all the florals. I
ReplyDeleteWish my window boxes looked that beautiful.
"Hate Has No Home Here"
ReplyDeleteIronic that you have to go to a place of 19th century homes to find such a statement (of course, the actual 19th century was anything but.) Meanwhile, so many bigots ply their trade these days on that newfangled Internet.
What incredible homes!!! I love the unique decorations - especially the skeleton at the window ledge and those rats!
ReplyDeleteJust you wait for a future post coming........
DeleteI want to live in the yellow house.
