Over the weekend my good friends the Capital Street Duo came for a weekend visit, to have some fun and frolic in New Hope for their honeymoon since they finally tied the knot. The Dame said she would like to come for a visit to celebrate the honeymoon. At first I though " my house?" She really needs to get out more, was the first reaction. But I thought what the heck. I also like to play hostess when I can, so I told them to come forth. Upon their arrival to the Casa du Borghese I had a lite luncheon for them........
chilled shrimp cock-a-tail. deviled eggs, some delish cucumber sandwiches and a lovely afternoon cock-a-tail of Pimms.......
I love me some Pimm's in the warm months and this weekend it was in the high 90"s, so the beverage was very refreshing. The cocktail consists of Pimm's, lemon lime soda, and a slice of cucumber, lime and a wedge of lemon. It seemed we all had several. And I always like to treat guest to special surprises....like a basket of towels and a huge assortment of skin and scent samples, soaps, and plenty of bed pillows......
Of course knowing the Dame, she too never arrivals empty handed, and brought me one of my favorite things......FLOWERS!
We then toured New Hope, well, maybe not sight seeing, as much as grabbing a drink and appetizer at 7 different dinning establishments and pubs!!!!! Followed by a night out at the Raven. It was a really fun weekend, followed by some recovery time off on Monday, which I think blogger friend Mac was appalled to learn I was off again!!!!! Of course that is the inside joke around here. But contrary to belief I do indeed remember where I work!!!! It was back to work today, with all vacations over now, looks like back to weekend fun only now. So I guess it really is back to reality now. What's that? You guys snickering at me going back to work....
With service like that, I don't think I would have even cared to leave the Casa! The Pimms cocktails sound excellent!

ReplyDeleteIt is pretty funny the amount of time I do get off. Well, that didn't sound good!!!! Visually we are very slow in the summer months, mostly doing behind the house things, and organizing. My other friends in retail are shocked at the time we get.
DeleteLuckily, I'm pretty much in the same boat. I've been with my company for 15 years so I've earned 5 weeks off a year... POOR US! ;-)
DeleteWhat a marvelous spread you put out for guests so... Do you! Put out for guests? No, no...of course not. You're too much of a lady. Now, back to that spread... Er. Ummm. Yep. All Lady! - uptonking from Wonderland Burlesque

DeleteOh my, handsome, sharp dresser, creative and apparently a great host!!!! If my only son were gay........ But everything looks some scrumptious, I want to lunch!
ReplyDeleteOh how I love Pimm's! When I lived in England and Australia it was a huge summer drink. I miss it. Its harder to get here in New Zealand. What a lovely post.
ReplyDeleteI wanna come over!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI noticed when I'm there all I get is chips and pretzels, and cheap beer.
