Another reason to love summer is that it gets me outdoors more and I can enhance my exercise regime further. During the week after work, three days a week, I head up the road by five minutes to Peace Valley Park. Peace Valley Park is a 1,500 acre park located near Doylestown. It is part of the Bucks County Park System. The park surrounds Lake Galena, a 365-acre lake, which makes for a nice work out , 6 miles around!!! I generally split the walk into quarters, where I'll walk and then jog, then walk again and finish up by jogging. It is quite an excursion, but the lake is so beautiful you don't really notice the long distance, plus running shirtless gives time to soak in more rays. Last week I took my phone to snap, snap, snap some pictures of this oasis up the road.
I have never taken out a sail boat, but have rented a canoe or kayak from time to time to paddle the perimeter of the lake.
Anyone know what these flowers are???? They remind me of Hibiscus but I doubt that's what they are. Perfect for behind the ear no?
A cool looking dragon fly......
A love Queen Anne's Lace, one of my favorite flowers/weeds!
There is also many different water birds to be seen.....
A lavender farm that backs up against the running trails of the lake...
Once in a while Buster Bolfig goes to the lake, but not in excessive heat and we generally only walk half the lake, to far for his short little legs...... but he will jump in the lake!
Some clipping I brought home Friday from the lake.......
And upon getting home from the lake Friday, on the grounds here by the maintenance building some new guest arrived at the Casa Du Borghese.......
Any dibs anyone?!?!? this was right near my car. Free turkeys!!!!!! And friends say it's only appropriate all this bird around here!!!!!
wild turkeys or turkey vultures - something dead nearby? ;-)
ReplyDeleteWild turkeys hon. They best watch because we also have fox here and two black bears have been spotted at the lake. And I don't mean the gay variety.

DeleteDAMN! I loves me some bears of the gay variety!
Beautiful flowers! I wish I had sun where I live, but we could use the rain.
ReplyDeleteThat is incredible!!!!! You really have the best of both worlds out there. Bucks County has some of the most beautiful scenes around this area, have even considered a move there. Wonderful pictures.
ReplyDeleteI would be most likely dead before completing this walk!!!! It is very pretty though, lovely! I love nature collecting walks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pleasant stroll through the park. Beautiful pics... thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great place for a walk run or snooze!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post! I'm a bit winded from the long walk, 6 miles!!!!! We haven't been there for years. But it all looks so picturesque! You have inspired me to take note of more things and your gathered nature's bounty makes me feel happy.
ReplyDeleteI think... that you and I would get along brilliantly. I love being outdoors and walking and running. Amazing pictures. You live in one beautiful area , with much to see and do. And there is nothing sexier than a boy with his dog!
ReplyDeleteI love lakes, your so lucky to be so close to one. Wild turkeys!!!!!! That's cool. But the bears may scare me knowing their there. Those pink and white flowers do look familiar, but I don't think there hibiscus.
ReplyDeleteI don't get to nervous since I haven't seen them. I think they are pretty much deeper in the wood.
Deletedon't get to be in nature much so thank you for sharing with us your pretty photos. I can just smell that lavender farm, how marvelous.
