Yet another example of a troubled, yet talented human being who was berated and bashed for years and only upon death was she treated like a human being. A little more kindness from the world and the media while alive—may have made all of the difference. I took this as a chance this week to not just pay tribute to my favorite singer, but also make it very clear that no matter how troubled a person may be, praising them at death doesn’t make the ridicule during life suddenly “ok”. To concluded the week out is Amy covering Someone to Watch Over Me that would have been a part of her third cd release. And to my hateful commenter all week regarding these post this whole week was for you!
Kisses. Peace.
To me this just bring forward the hope that we find some more answers to addiction.
ReplyDeleteI just broke into tears literally 5 seconds into the song while watching the pictures. I still can't believe it. These pics are great because it shows us that after you take away all of the tabloid nonsense, we're left with an innocent little girl- a daughter, a sister, a friend, who was so pleasant and fun in the inside, and she would have made such a wonderful woman and mother had she been able to pick herself up. Rest peacefully among the angles, Amy. I know you're sitting up there singing
ReplyDeleteDynamic vocal performance by Ms Winehouse, kudos to the musicians as well.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed her singing this immensely! thank you! She reminds of of someone. Is it Ella?
ReplyDeleteThis in my opionion is one of Amy's best song covers, she sang it with lots of passion!!! I also love your selection of photo's you have used and for selecting your favorites with us, thank you so much for!! Somewhere Amy is smiling!
ReplyDeleteNo gimmicks. Just her voice and a piano
ReplyDeleteI had never heard her version before, but it is just fabulous.
ReplyDeleteMakes me weep, the song and the loss.
I reached nirvana at 4:20! If this is what was to come.........
ReplyDeleteLove this a really good cover of an amazing jazz standard and at 3.35 she sounds abit like dinah washington there
ReplyDeleteWow what a wonderful recording,A hint of Billie Holliday...wow, this got me to shead some tears.
ReplyDeleteThis is actually amazing
ReplyDeleteI have always enjoyed her voice, but I didnt know she had a voice like this. a little less trilling, a little more just showing us the gift she had, and she would have been great. kind of like her life.. a little less party and a little more just being, and success would have found her. its too bad.
ReplyDeleteShe's the best! really! no one can compare with her! christ! perfect voice! I don't even follow jazz and I can tell how good she sounds here
ReplyDeleteLove your week of remembering a great singer. It seems some of the best talent is always so short lived. And your blog is wonderful with so much content and different items. The Amy posts are how I found you.
