BEACH DAZED

You have no idea how much I was looking forward to getting away on vacation. Especially what with the goings on of the current administration and the other half still licking wounds. Traveling and getting away may be the only way to balance oneself again. If I was home and never traveled, I think I'd go nuts. I know, a short trip for me, right? But I digress. The beach for me is always my favorite place to go to feel free, relax, and get rejuvenated. Nothing like hearing the sea, smelling it, and feeling the sand under foot. Getting Thrasher French Fries with salt and vinegar, and enjoying some famous Dollies Saltwater Taffy. So, Rehoboth Beach was a very good respite after the hoopla of the gay pride festivities in NYC. Rehoboth is also making a rebound I feel...the pendulum seems to be swinging back to being more gay again. While not as gay as say Ptown or Fire Island, it is pretty gay and very gay friendly. The restaurants are incredible, there are no less than five different weekly drag shows, with guest queens from all over, and not drag race queens, but legends, like Coco, Bunny, Sherry Vine, Miss Richfield and the one who inspired me to start drag, Champagne Douglas. There is also 5 gay bars and dance clubs. Imagine? I danced my ass off for three hours at Deigo's Hideaway our first Saturday night. And the shopping?!?! Such stylish boutiques and shops, with clothing with some flair.  If you ever get the chance, check this gem of a beach out. And I highly recommend staying at the Rehoboth Guest House, run by a gay couple I know from the Woods Campground, Frank and Garrett. The rooms are unique, attention to every detail, a full-on, full-service breakfast every morning, with everything under the sun you could ask for, wonderful, friendly and attentive staff, freshly made Chocolate chip cookies all day, and a fully stock 24-hour coffee and tea bar, beautiful courtyard and grounds. Don't want to head to the beach? They have chaise lounges up on the second level for sunning. Excellent location right within blocks of all the action, and the gay beach, Poodle Beach.

I already have my next two stays booked their already for autumn and next summer. And take a gander at what I'm taking about with my favorite place.

Apparently in Rehoboth one can only get and give head in the parking only!
ADORED the trompe-l'oeil on the front of this house.
I heard of Beach Bunnies but never actually saw one!!! I just had to get a snap and send it to Tundra Bunny. After I took the picture, that rabbit was rolling around in the sand having a high ho time. And speaking of ho's, a new square cut that matched a vintage tank perfectly.

The only problem staying at the guest house is all the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. And the blueberry pancakes that the house manager made for me remembering me saying I enjoyed them, not to mention made me special, some sausages when I got down to breakfast late and they were gone... and even brought them out to the courtyard for me. What a delight...and a wicked juice mixologist she was. It's a wonder that square cut wasn't cutting off my circulation kids.

And if your reading this and go and stay there tell them Maddie sent you.

BEACH BOYS

Two weeks ago, it was nice to return to Rehoboth Beach for a week's stay. I hadn't been to Rehoboth since the before the pandemic hit. And boy did I miss it. For years, Provincetown has been known as the go-to beach town for the LGBT community, and I think many don't realize that there's an equally welcoming destination in Delaware that attracts thousands of LGBT...and a very quick and accessible drive for those in DC, Balitmore, Philadelphia and Harrisburg. Don't get me wrong I love P-Town...but that drive is soooo long from here, not to mention before the pandemic, the Clan of us also had our timeshare in Rehoboth, so there was that. But the best part of the trip was, at least on the beach was the couple next to us, who hailed in from....Ohio!! And you just know I was a smittin' with one beefy Loranzo!

His hubby, the one he is putting the suntan lotion on was also very cute, but you know me and the South American flavor! Isn't he just scrumptious?

And this was the second day, before I even met my cuddle buddy. Later that night I had nothing to complain about at Deigo's when I ended up dancing with them, and right smack dab in the middle. Nothing wrong with playing some monkey in the middle I say. Did I mention I missed the boys of Rehoboth? What can I say? This trip I was on more laps than a napkin.

BEACH DAZED

If I learned one thing from this beach gaunt, it's that I now know when I retire, I AM retiring to a shore point. The beach is by far my favorite place to be. So rejuvenating. It can be fun and fast paced or as slow and peaceful as one wants it to be.  The Capital Street Duo, friend Garrett, and I were off to Rehoboth Beach for five glorious days...and good days to be there as summer heat was and is here. But being on the beach with its breeze was lovely feeling and the sea, very refreshing. A perfect time to be there. I dare say I got very nicely bronzed. Rehoboth is another lovely beach locale...I dare say a perfect combination of P-town and New Hope put together, with a slight chic feel to it. Much fun was had, we found ourselves on the beach daily, ate, drank, shopped, ate, drank, caught up with drag pals, drank, much relaxing with more drinks. Our Guest House was very charming, very attentive and welcoming staff with a lovely rooftop deck and lower patio, outdoor showers, and nice, charming rooms, and gardens in the courtyard. By time we left I think we met everyone in the B&B, and I might have had a clandestine with one that I met at the tea dance! We've already booked while there, a return trip in October. Now it's back to work today. How bad can it be??? A three-day work week, and yet another next week for the Fourth holiday. Some sights to muddle through of the guest house and seaside....

Edmund..my beach tea dance trick cuddle buddy
Garett giving almost a half moon. Who's to complain?
NO...I didn't take Bouvier with me.
This squirrel was a supporter of Pride, apparently.
These two!!!! That's another story.
Rehoboth Grande Dame, Magnolia Applebottom
Another guest at the B&B, from Ohio. He was quite something girls! He hung out with Edmund and I  late with cocktails one night. And I'll leave that there.
Look at this beach nibble.
With sunsets like this, how could one not want to live along the sea???
