LATE NIGHT...ALASKA

One of the queens to always come out with music and hits the mark right on with a fresh current sound, and with a danceable beat in my opinion, has always been Alaska Thunderfuck. Alaska is here yet again with Brooklyn's mainstay Kandy Muse,  for this fun surprisingly poignant electro banger about the sense of isolation that's part and parcel of a drag queen's life. I love the video shows the queens in and out of drag, showing that queens do have two sides and bend the gender. This was filmed before Kandy's season aired on Drag Race.

GRANDE DAME

I fell in love with Monique Heart right quick.
His, smile and humor are contagious….and the one liners never end...it's almost as if Noxzema Jackson had really come to life. When he was told to sashay away on Drag Race...the show got just a bit less energetic, both times. Born and raised in Long Island, New York,  Monique Heart  was heavily influenced by his mother. Every time the doors of the local church were open, Monique and his mom were in attendance. He wouldn’t be there for long, as by 2008 he had moved to Kansas City, where he dedicated his life to full-time ministry and 24/7 prayer and worship, as well as to become an assistant leader in an ex-gay ministry. By September of 2010, Monique began to explore cosmetology school, where he quickly realized that he had an untapped passion and calling. One year later, Monique Heart was born when Kevin got an offer to host an event in drag. Monique has spent his life on the church stage, singing, dancing, speaking and teaching, and when he first got on stage as “Monique,” it was as if his life had come full circle. He knew he wanted to be the kind of drag queen who could be up on stage entertaining, but who would also encourage and motivate those in the crowd. Through Monique Heart,  he had found a platform for the beauty of God’s leadership through performance, public speaking, and the heart-to-hearts he can have with just about anyone willing to lend an ear. Monique is defiantly one of my favorite queens, and how do you not LOVE that style and all the colorful ensembles.
