I'm so glad I found a way to watch this series already. Waiting for it to come out in the States would of been unbearable. Now I'm impatient to see what will happen for series 4 and how the family will deal with what happened at the end of the Christmas special. Can't Wait!
Now you know it is gonna be good rivlery with Dowanger and Martha, especially when Dowagner Countess asks Isabell, "Are you going to greet the Queen of Sheba" then she says she will pay homage at dinner. I hear Shirley is only doing two ep.
That shlock is, unfortunately, lapped up by uneducated, lowIQ Americans. The entertainment industry provides what Americans want. It is why we fall further and further behind the rest of the world in most everything
Love everything about the show, those costumes and Oh,that amazing Highclere Castle! Shirley Maclaine's part let me down just a little. I expected to see more of her.
Masterpiece has done some great productions but this may top them all along with Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock. An what does the US have to offer in this vein? I only hear silence out there............
Downton Abbey is a story with characters that draw you in. The writing , the costumes the authenticity of the production is wonderful. Compare that to all the reality shows on the air, people are hungering for this kind of production!
We have to wait until the "Tennis" finishes before we are permitted to view such extravagence... For some reason the programmers think It's more important to show sweaty people grunting and wacking a few hairy balls about...
I love Maggie Smith and Shirley MacLaine, and this show! I hope they keep it on in the states. It always amazes me that good shows will go off the air but something ridiculous like the Kardashians or Honey Boo Boo stay on!
MiMi- Thank you for commenting and welcome!!! I couldn't agree more with you. From what I hear the ratings for Sunday night were 4 times higher then the previous season, and the highest ratings a PBS show received. So Downton's future looks bright my friend!
Thrilled for its return! Love the show. Yes, what you said about our TV selection here is spot on (of course). When something of the caliber of Downton Abbey is on, we flock to it!
THREE hours of entertainment last night...a double episode and a special on Highclere Castle!
ReplyDeleteOh, you lovely colonials. You just adore a bit of old Imperial class warfare, don'tcha? Jx
ReplyDeleteHoney, all one must do is thrown Dame Maggie Smith in something and a good, neat G&T in, and you have us!
Deletekeep that box of kleenex handy.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I hear, good thing I stocked up.
DeleteIn an interview, Shirley Maclean said that she and Maggie Smith were lovers in another life, LOL! Too bad it wasn't this one -- would have been great!
ReplyDeleteWe were gone for the weekend so I have it DVR'd for tonight.
ReplyDeleteI.Cannot.Wait.

ReplyDeleteMaggie Smith gets the best lines! Brilliant! Love her! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt seemed as though it would never return!!!! The Doawager is horribly blunt, but she's always right.

ReplyDeleteI sure hope Thomas gets some tail this year, or he is going to expolde!
