The Mistress is not one for awards shows, but was planning to watch tonight just to see Adele and see how LL Cool J would be as host. But after the latest news, I will be watching with Kleenex. Jennifer Hudson and rumors have it, possibly Chaka Khan will perform a tribute to the late Whitney Houston at tonight's Grammys.
For the first time since her hiatus after a vocal cord surgery, the beautiful and talented, Adele will be hitting the stage with her hit songs, a comeback performance for 2011's best-selling artist.
It will be an intresting show for sure. Anyone planning on watching?
Okay, just a ... irreverent comment but how many women attending are making last minute wardrobe decisions? You can't come in inside an egg this year.
ReplyDeleteYes! I have a feeling visual stylist everywhere are scrambling for changes, or to at least something more subdue. Glad no gaga. I don't fore see Adele showing up with crazy tailing her.
DeleteI with you kiddo, I can not stand award shows, but I WILL be watching tonight for sure.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed, it should be a very emotional night...with highs and lows. I adore Adele, hope she does good!
ReplyDeleteI'm an awards show whore, and a slut for Adele JHud, so I'll be watching.
ReplyDeleteBoth those women should be fabulous.
I don't know if her singing will live up to the hype, I'm sure it will, but she is quite hot! And to be in Jennifer Hudson's shoes?
ReplyDeleteNever seen a concert performance of Adele's before until I saw a nice program on PBS once. It was Adele singing at a small venue in Santa Monica. Wow, great voice! If there is a bright spot tonight she will be one reason.
ReplyDeleteI have never had any interest in watching the grammys. I'll be watching tonight, her voice is bliss. She's the only one I've heard who like Linda Ronstadt, can just overwhelm the technology that's supposed to capture her voice, they just blow the technology out of the room. Her and the Whitney tribute. Two women who can do a perfect tribute.
ReplyDeleteShe sounded great singing "Rolling In The Deep" for Anderson Cooper. Great voice, but I wonder what's next for her. Two CDs of really downbeat songs are probably enough. And it will be intresting to see how all the tributes go along.
ReplyDeletefirst, can't wait to see Adele!!! Second,...ducks from flying fruit...Ms. Hudson is the exact opposite of what made Whitney so great. Hudson over sings and over kills everything. Even her simple diet commercials are filled with "runs" and over singing that make me want to wretch. A poor choice for the beautiful, simpler techique of Whitney, which to me, made her far more talented. She better do her justice.
ReplyDeleteI, for one am looking forward to the show. And if anyone sings I will always Love You, it should be Dolly Parton, who wrote the song. THAT would be the most beautiful tribute.
ReplyDeleteagreed, Miss Lady Fingers.
DeleteDolly Parton would have been historic! She has such a sweet voice, the perfect tribute.
DeleteThose lyrics penned by parton really boosted houston and it should be parton who performs it if it is to be performed. That would be tearful Im sure.
DeleteIf Dolly comes out to sing that, I'll be a mess for sure! That would be incredible!
DeleteI can't wait to see the show. Wonder if it will dwarf the superbowl from the sunday? And Froggy is right, how many will change to something more subdue frocks?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure this wil bring the divas out in full force. And the Dolly Parton comment. I can't believe they didn't think of that.
ReplyDeleteYes, should be a very memorable year for the grammy's.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see someone at the Grammys speak out against the horror of drug use, the destuctiveness of alcohol But we won't ...this crowd of hollywood people will ignore the obvious, they will continue to make light of the fact their industry is rampant with use and after the awards, they will go to the various parties and continue doing their drugs. When someone in the music industry dies, we hear all the tributes , but it's all b.s. Sorry if I spoke to harsh Mistress, but that's how I feel.
ReplyDeleteNo worries! Everyone is free to speak their mind and so true your words!
DeleteLove your blog Mistress! It has a bit of a touch of everything! I adore Adele and I hope she does well. And a terrible void with Whitney being gone. I'm sure they will do a good tribute for the queen.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Heather and come spend time at the Casa anytime! And thank you for a lovely comment, makes my night happy!
