MOOD BOARD

Well... the Mistress was off the radar for the weekend to New Hope, and it appears that Pride Month is upon us. This year I'm ready, after a two-year absence with the pandemic. Seems most cities will be back in full swing, I'm ready to attend again. With what's going on currently with many rights possibly being under attack... again, don't they know were not going anywhere yet... numbers are going to be important to show the size of us and that we aren't going anywhere. The first kick off is always New Hope Celebrates, and the Grande dame and good friend, Miss Pumpkin asked for me to return, graciously to be a guest queen at her establishment, but I declined the parade. It was so hot; I would have melted like a roman candle in clown make-up. I also had forgotten just how long it took to do proper and full regalia trademark Mistress drag. And lesbi honest, I do have some Bucks County withdrawals since moving. Before the show, I had the morning and afternoon to spend enjoying some cock-a-tails, visiting, and frolic with friends from here, and there. One friend had complimented all of the cock-a-tail pictures on my Instagram. There are quite a few. What can I say, I love my cock and tails. So for today, here are some from it. See, I do like more that just my gin, granted, some of these are gin based. Many were from the weekend. Aren't they prudy?

I was very tickled the other night when a mini show called Craft in America came on PBS one night recently,  as a little segment betixed shows, and saw a Philadelphia friend featured. I met Jan years ago when in New Hope. I had complimented her pretty and unusual necklace. She replied that is was made of used cocaine crack vials and caps. Needless to say I was blown away. When we've gotten together I could listen to her talk all day, she is a very calming person to be around, and is one of the few who can see and be inspired by just about anywhere and anything. She is a artist who makes mixed media jewelry and draws inspiration from both the natural and the lived-in human environment from her neighborhood in Philly. She creates some of the most breathtaking and unusual pieces I've seen. She incorporates rocks, bullet casings, and crack cocaine vials into her work and finds beauty in the resilience of urban plants that some would consider weeds. Like those beautiful variety of blue cornflower and Queens Ann lace. She has a vast collection and her works have found themselves in the permeant collections of the Philadelphia and Smithsonian Art Museums, Musuem of Fine Art in Boston, National Museum of Scotland, and the Victoria and Albert Museum of London

Tiara of Useful Knowledge

Her whole line of jewelry is amazing but it's Jan's City Flora pieces she creates that are a favorite. She "beachcombs" the neighborhood for plants that persist in living even in a dilapidated environment, and recreates the leaves of plants and flowers such as cornflower, chicory, purslane and dandelion, dissects them, and makes inlays in finely detailed silver and gold. Truely amazing.
