MEATBALL

I first became familiar with Meatball when I went to NYC to catch one of Bunny's shows, and I met this filthy queen when she was in town. No wonder Bunny was fond of her. And it hit me, Meatball is a comedy queen the community needs to know.  And I'm here for her not wanting to be the most traditional or fishiest or most beautiful queen. Mind you, she does turn out some beautiful looks more often than not. Meatball doesn't have the urge to blow tons of bucks on looks, rather, find it grab it and wear it. She reminds of the fun and campy feel I had when I started doing drag before queens got all into the high glam and the cookie cutter code of contour. The Los Angeles- based queen and comedian is a huge personality with an even bigger story. It starts with that name Meatball. The name came from the queen and her friends trying to figure out a name for an unconventional drag queen, who was messy and sloppy, and one who enjoys eating, her favorite... Italian meatballs, and one that embodies some parts of femineity but vehemently, rejects others. This queen realized she had the skills for drag as a comedy driven theater kid along with performances skills and a schtick and never looked back.  Meatball's prides herself on her unique style, very sloppy behavior, and she has no qualms letting her rolls and hairiness hang out. She's become a staple in the LA drag scene, and has since gotten her own popular show, Welcome to Meatball Land on You Tube, and her podcast show Sloppy Seconds, where she speaks unapologetically about food, her life and what makes her drink! Beyond the BLM movement, which she was a huge organizer of in LA, she can also be found looking into and supporting the issue of fostering children, where she is helping to raise awareness of the huge disproportionality of children of color who seem to get lost in the foster care system.  Her message to everyone is to ADPOT, VOTE and WEAR VEGAN EYESHADOW, of which she has her own palate, HipDot Diamond Diva Palate.

Meatball can be caught regularly performing at places in LA like the Precinct, Exposure Drag at The Offbeat, and AKBAR in Silverlake.

MOOD BOARD

This post is hoping the Winter Queen hasn't given up. While I like summer hot and humid temps, I'm not ready to go from the cold of winter right into the temps of spring in the snap of a finger...as we are to have several days in the 60's this week. This weekend I had a small birthday celebration to go to in New Hope. While I had a good time, it was bitterly cold out and wanted to stay in in the worst way. I still want some more hibernation time. My friends say I'm nuts. Haven't you had enough of being in isolation??? Hell no! Winter is for snow, candlelit evenings, and layering up. I'm not opposed to one last blow out of a snow and ice storm to make all sit and stay in on their asses. But must say the birthday party was fun. What's not to love about birthday cakes?

AFTERNOON DELIGHT

Even at 15, the old man, Buster Bolfig Borghese still has his magic, and attracts the neighborhood femme fatales. Even if they are double his size.
