THE THANKSGIVING MENU

While searching for something or other a couple days ago, I ran across these vintage menus, which I found to be very interesting. Most of these date from the early 1900's to 1949.  It's interesting to see the name of the items for some of the food, and the simplicity of some others in the verbiage, compared to menu these days.  Check out the prices on the Plaza Hotel's menu. And this was years ago!!!

Where can one eat for these prices today, let alone a  whole Thanksgiving meal!!!!

Cigarettes???

What the hell the frozen Tom and Jerry?

A THANKFUL MONDAY

I don't know about you, but I sure can't wait much longer for what is probably my favorite dinner of the whole year!!!! And I'm even more thankful for a three day week! I'll be off two days this week, and I'll head to the ancestral home for the big dinner.  I was thinking, we always see turkeys this time of year, but what about the other beautiful bird of autumn....the pheasant! They really are quite stunning, I have seen several around here. But did you know, the males like always are the most stunning? They also have very keen eye sight and hearing, and can fly up to 35 mph? They can also run over 10 mph, so they apparently have very strong legs. I have never eaten pheasant. The less animals I can eat the better, so I'll stick to me once a year turkey and my chicken, ha, ha!!!

THE USUAL SUSPECTS

You know, I used to love Saturdays the best. First day to sleep in from a busy week. But anymore Sundays are becoming my favorite mornings. I try and get all my household chores done after work during the week, so I can have my weekends to myself for pleasure. Saturdays mornings are usually trips to the farmers market, and the liquor shop, if I already don't have plans. But I have to say, today was a huge day of leisure, sleeping in late, watching movies and it begun with a big breakfast.....

and watching my usual suspects at the window, something I haven't had time to do in a while. It brightened a grey day out.
tons of doves!!!!!

A new guest showed up ...a hawk. I have never seen one so close to the windows before. Of course the others made tracks when he showed up.

I also now know winter is coming as today was the first day I have seen the Junco's back. Yesterday I also caught glimpse of the fox near the woods edge, which is rare to see during the morning hours. Neighbors of mine say they are out every night.
Just about half an hour ago I captured this out the window....what a perfect end with the sun coming out, turning to sunset. And off to the right one can see Bonnie and Clyde plus one roosting.

LATE NIGHT WITH RALPHEUS

Your Mistress loves to dance, and get me into a club and I'm done! I love a good, old sounding house music ditty, and this one gets me every time. Ralpheus.

A journey ... that's the best way to describe this man's dj-sets because he can take you from a walk in the park to a roller coaster in no time! Always obsessed with music, Ralf started to spin himself at the age of 18 and had long-time residencies at big clubs as Café d'Anvers and Nunu Club, where he had the honor to share the decks with a lot of big names from the scene. Three times already did this Belgian boy play at the best festival in the world : Tomorrowland, and in 2012, he won Studio Brussel's first 'The Greatest Switch DJ-contest'. Nowadays based in Hasselt, he teamed up with different producer-friends and released several tracks over the last few years. Keep an eye on this guy because there's plenty more to come!

This song recently caught my attention on my favorite tv show, when one of the characters was  fashionably introduced,10 points if you can name it, a hint below,

and another 10 if you can name the character who vogued to it!
