It been another cold, cold weekend. I let Sophie out the other night around 1am and noticed these very cool, no pun intended, shadows from the tree branches cast on the back garden from the moon.
Today, nothing but sunshine, but deceiving. It's still only 23 degrees. But what a view out the middle bedroom windows!
The bluebirds have been out in force all week!!!!
The hearted bird bath has been a favorite.

Haunting winter shadows! But interesting they look. That had to have been a chilly capture.
ReplyDeleteBut the Bluebirds!!!! That warmed me right up. So many! I can't get any to save my life.
It was FREEZING when I caught those photos!!!!
DeleteIs there a Bluebird Convention in town? Very eerie shadow photos too.
ReplyDeleteI wished the bluebird picture would have come out more clear. I have never seen so many...three at the most.
DeleteWhat a gorgeous flock of bluebirds! Do you have nest boxes for them? We have one and we love watching bluebird pairs raise families!
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not no...I have not put up nest boxes... but in the woods, there must be hollow cavities in the trees. But I have never seen so many...including in the summer months.
DeleteThe photos of the shadows are a lil' bit dark. The bluebird is a delight to see tho.
ReplyDeleteLooks like standing room only at the heated bird bath, LOL! It would be cool to set up a trail cam to photograph all the bird bath users over a few days -- I bet you'd get some fantastic footage!
ReplyDeleteThe heated bird bath was $$ enough!
DeleteWow. We tried to entice bluebirds to our gardens in Connecticut with no luck. They were probably all at your house! And a heated bird bath. Plush! Why didn’t we think of that?
ReplyDeleteI have been able to attract them here and my apartment in Bucks County. My dad tried for years to get them to visit to no avail Mitchell. Bluebirds are often considered one of the most difficult to attract due to their specific dietary needs and habitat preferences. They are insectivores, meaning they primarily eat insects. Additionally, bluebirds prefer open spaces and can be territorial. And they are cavity nesters. They will eat some seed here, but really like mealworm and I think they also like the suet with orange pieces in it too.
DeleteVery nice! Thought, what are Dark Shadows without Barnabas?
ReplyDeleteWith the shadows of late, it looks like Collinswood.
DeleteThe beautiful birds made me smile.
ReplyDeletelovely! and just what we need to see: some color.
ReplyDeleteThe birds are what's bringing the color of late. Jay's bluebirds, cardinals, woodpeckers....
DeleteWell, those birds certainly didn't fly south.
ReplyDeleteThe shadows! Why they could be called the dark forest. Eerie. But he blue birds made everything jolly.
ReplyDeleteThe shadows. They waits within the corner where the sunbeams dare not go,
ReplyDeleteA mirror made of midnight where the secret horrors grow.
You think you lead, it follows—but the truth is cold and grim:
The shadow is the vessel, and you are just the rim.
The shadows are captivating but those little Blue Birds are the star of the show!
ReplyDeleteThey made the whole weekend for me!
DeleteHeated bird bath! Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteThe Koffee Klatch around the bird bath is everything!
ReplyDeleteThose shadows are right out of Alfred Hitchcock.
ReplyDeleteI think your right. The Dark Forest.
DeleteTrees make wonderful silhouettes in the winter skies, once their leaves have fallen.
ReplyDeleteI loved the shadows they made across the snow-covered lawn.
DeleteYou see beauty everywhere.
ReplyDeleteWell, those shadows don't look sinister at all!
ReplyDeleteHeated bird bath, or gincuzzi for the bluebirds?
