Wouldn't this be a smashing ensemble to wear for the Easter dinner? The Mistress is just about to hit the road for a nice long weekend for Easter. She is packed with the Boy-Toy and Buster Bolfig in tow, heading home to the ancestral house for visiting with family and friends. The weather has been and will continue to be wonderfully warm and sunny, just great for a big ole' egg hunt. Sunday we will head to the Aunt and Uncles abode for a lovely Easter dinner of Lamb and all the side dishes. Mostly I'm looking forward to just relaxing, and upon getting back possibly checking out the Picasso Exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I have always found Paloma Picasso to be one of the classiest and most chic women around and you don't get a more interesting background then she. With famous legendary parents, fashion design friends and all the nightlife personalities she hung around ,she has had quite the charmed life. I just read a article on her in last months Bazaar. She is now going on 30 years designing babbles for Tiffany & Co and lives between her place in France, and one in Marrakesh where she now works from. She sends all her work out to her studio in New York to her teams. And everything is then sent back to her for approval. And she also says while she does still attend social functions, she would rather leave all the glitz, glamour and paparazzi moments to the newer generation and live the quite life.

Eventually, she became a brand of her own, with accessories and scents and home furnishings, among other products. Thirty years later, her fragrances still sell online and her "vintage" sunglasses are a prized find on fashion retail sites. But it's her jewelry collections for Tiffany that have continued to ensure that "Paloma Picasso" is a household name. The youngest of Pablo Picasso's four children (her mother was the artist Francoise Gilot), Paloma was often a subject of his paintings, including "Paloma With an Orange" and "Paloma in Blue." Gilot left Pablo Picasso in 1953 when Paloma was 4, but she continued to spend summers and school breaks with her father for several years. As a young woman, Picasso learned to express her own artistic sensibilities in jewelry design. After a period in which she worked for her best friend, Yves Saint Laurent and the Greek jewelry company Zolotas, she was approached by representatives and a good friend from Tiffany's. Shortly after starting to design for the company, Picasso's reputation as a style setter and fashion muse took off. She was one of the biggest names on the social scene, and was pretty visible at all the fashion shows. Her raven hair, porcelain skin and bright red pout became a signature image of the 1980s. I'm sure you remember seeing these vintage advertisements in the 80's.
Today, some observers say her signature "X" pieces, "graffiti" brooches and "scrawled" heart-shaped pendants are as well known as Tiffany's famous diamond solitaire settings. I found this quote from a Tiffany rep. "In general she is an important branch" for the luxury goods company, says Jennifer Milan, a research analyst for the New York-based brokerage firm Sterne Agee, whose portfolio includes Tiffany & Co. "Her collections are widely associated with the brand and are something people go to look for specifically at the store." And her empire is poised to expand. To commemorate her 30th anniversary with the company, Picasso has created three new collections that range from casual to opulent.
