ANOTHER LEGEND

Its with sad news, yet again, of another drag Legend passing away. Late yesterday I got word that the highly entertaining, raunchy and Fabulous Heklina, who has been entertaining San Francisco since the early 90's passed away suddenly and unexpected, while in the UK with Peaches Christ. Trips to San Francisco will seem a little bit darker now without seeing one of her shows. If you hadn't seen one of her shows you certainly missed a San Francisco treat. But fabulon just got a lot brighter.

If that's not enough to scare the shit out of you I don't know what is. She will be missed...and this form of camp drag...is slowly becoming extinct.

Rest well Heklina ...and thank-you for all the laughs and hilarity.

GRANDE DAME

D'Arcy Drollinger is based in  San Francisco and is a actor, writer, musician, director & choreographer and fabulous drag queen, known for his high-camp / vaudeville-style stage productions that combine slapstick, farce and often drag. He was a founding member of the post-punk art band Enrique, and is an owner of the San Francisco nightclub Oasis, along with drag performer, Heklina. Drollinger is also creator of the dance-fitness brand, Sexitude, which is an ongoing body-positive, sex-positive dance/fitness program. If you've seen D'Arcy then you know she has legs up to her ya-ya, as anyone who's seen her original musical Shit and Champagne knows. She also has a keen business sense, as one of the four principals behind the year-and-a-half-old SoMa drag club Oasis, which has become a major player in S.F. nightlife in spite of a rather inauspicious start. D"Arcy claims to have started drag at the age of three...... and begged her mother to buy her a wedding dress and umbrella at a thrift store so she could be Marry Poppins. But on a more serious level, she has been doing drag since around 1993. D'Arcy's latest shtick was at the Victoria theater this season, pretty much back to back, as Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Show and Rose in The Golden Girls.

SO ...YOU WANNA BE A DRAG QUEEN?

I can remember the first time I did drag. Talk about scared, But I always had big balls and went out and did it!!!

 

 I had the best time, and then ended up doing drag for shows, but mostly became the Social "It" queen at the clubs, and parties to keep the crowd happy and entertained or the lure. The Amanda Lepore if you will, and continued for the next 10 years!!!! What captured me was the transformation, and still does amaze me. I was also enthralled by the crowd loving the Mistress Borghese, as well... it also gave me another outlet to express myself, and helped bring my boy personality to the surface....which the Mistress Borghese was a terrible influence!!! When I get asked questions, I think this video really  answers a lot of questions I would get asked. Grande Dame of the Week

The artistic and queen of comedy Heklina

Heklina is one versatile queen with her looks. Hailing from San Francisco, Heklina has been a queen of performing and comedy for years and is probably one of the top queens to see when in the city by the bay. She is also creator of the now closed legendary Trannyshack that was the spot to see the famous drag shows they once had there. Heklina can still be seen all over San Fran with her antics.
