What a glorious weekend! It started out a bit chilly and damp but then got beautiful. The weather got near perfect. Should I have been gardening? Probably, but this rally was far too important an issue. Time to take it to the streets! Another great protest for the No Kings Day in protest of the current maniacal criminal and administration running this country! Don't get to comfy cause I'm pretty sure many of them will be up for elimination and be told to sashay away soon. And at this point this not a Democrat or Republican issue. I talked with some pretty hard-core Republicans who were there and they are not happy and plan to vote blue. It's about having the choice to be in a party of choice under a democracy. This weekend found myself and some of the clan in Philly for the No King Protest in great numbers, over 60,000 I last heard. Starting at the art museum and heading right up the Ben Franklin Parkway then down-Market Street. Another reason to love the protest and this city...they will not take shit!
In 1776 it ALL began here. The second continental Congress met in Philadelphia. It was a governing body that formally declared 13 original colonies' independence from Britain on July 4, 1776, at the Pennsylvania State House which is now known as Independence Hall. King George III is prominently featured in the Declaration of Independence as the target of the American colonies' grievances, where he is accused of a long train of abuses and tyranny. The Declaration of Independence was written primarily by Thomas Jefferson and adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, asserting that all individuals have inherent rights to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." Philadelphia will never give in. Some of the great signs from the march.
Some of our finery
This lady used her sign in the last rally, but still rings true.
Lumbersexual joined us too! Nice to see him and those gams.
And these two!
At a Mexican eatery! The owners' dogs are not fond of HWSNBN and she said they will bite back LMAO!!!!
It felt good to get out and be part of the charge and hopefully the change. This might be just one of my favorite pictures I ever took in Philly. Where it began.
* A huge thank you to everyone for letting me take your picture to share.

I was at a No Kings rally in a normally Republican-leaning suburb of Cleveland. About 90% of the cars that passed by beeped their horns in support.
ReplyDeleteAt this point with both sides growing more pissed, and the longer he's in, he's bound to piss even more off...the next election should be a landside. Thanks for attending a gathering Kirk!
Deletethese photos give me joy and hope. thank you for posting them.
ReplyDeleteI felt joy and hope. Let's just hope it last. Some days it gets hard.
DeleteHad a great day in Philadelphia at the No Kings rally. Our great city is one of the cradles of Liberty in America, a light that we will not stand back and allow to be dimmed and extinguished by a deranged tyrant and his minions of misery.
ReplyDeleteAn old Philadelphian
I agree with you! It was great. Philadelphia has been and will always be a corner stone of not taking crap...and has always embraced, for the most part, its diversity and acceptances on many. It will always be one of my favorite cities. I'm not even born there, Only lived in the area for 26 years, yet it feels like home to me. And as we know, the Dump cannot stand our beautiful city.
DeleteNow those are some great signs with a message! We too were out of our No Kings Rally...one of the biggest also. I hope people stay awake and keep their eyes open. I can only imagine the feeling of being in Philadelphia for these, considering it is where we all started with freedoms. I miss that city.
ReplyDeleteKudos to you and your fellow protesters, Maddie! CBC reported the U.S. rallies had about 9 million marchers. The signs in photos 9 & 10 made me LOL! Your last photo reminded me of Ken Burns' most recent PBS documentary about the Revolutionary War. Being descended from United Empire Loyalists myself and more knowledgeable about the British-Canadian side of it, his documentary was a real eye-opener for me.
ReplyDeleteThere were so many good signs with a point, but couldn't help but make you laugh as well. One of my favorites was Vinny's, in our gang...His sign read Are we Great yet? Cause I just feel embarrassed.
DeleteI have yet to see the documentary.
Great turn out! Harrisburg too had one of their biggest yet. And I agree henny....no party what party...if people are pissed off and mad, we need to not turn them away.... we all need to embrace and get rid and vote out these evil bastards.
ReplyDeleteIt does my heart good to see so many people standing up to America's own Evil Regime.
ReplyDeleteThe whole world seems to be full of hatred.
You were there for me too. Thank you. X
I like No Faux King Way. Lumbersexual looks goooood.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
What a glorious weekend!
ReplyDeleteAll showing that 'Despair' and 'We give up!' will NEVER be on the agenda.
ReplyDeleteI know it doesn't seem like much, but boy being at a rally with other like-minded people with these signs feels so damn good. It feels like you're alive and doing something to bring change and showing that fat toad the we ain't taking it it's still hard to believe that mess is coming about because of a US president.
DeleteJust heard that King Chas + his 'lovely' Queen Cam WILL be visiting your your country at end of Apr despite widespread strong feelings on this side that it should be postponed or, much preferably, cancelled. Even just yesterday we had the latest put-down of the U.K. by the Orange 'King'. (Boo!) Although his Majesty (OUR King, I mean) COULD have said no, final decision is made by the British government, so one HUGE thumbs-down for them! It's only one more feather in that stupid MAGA hat to swell his already over-bloated ego. Sheeesh!
DeleteSo empowering to see. And even more meaningful coming from Philadelphia. Glad you were there!
ReplyDeleteNow we need that same kind of turn out on election day.
ReplyDeleteAs long as people don't lose Steam and monitor their intake of news I think turnouts will be huge. But we shouldn't take for granted the turnouts will be big everyone needs to show up, after all it's one of the rights we still have.
DeleteWe were in Columbia and once again had a good-sized crowd. I met and spoke with quite a few Republicans who have changed their tune about Cankles.
ReplyDeleteThe Resistance continues!
I agree. One older man scolded me for talking to a Republican and basically he was asking how dare I! And that's just part of the problem if the two sides can't talk and get along and agree on anything then change is never going to come about. People side with us.. why are we pushing people away that want to work with us? You won't win people over by doing that.
DeleteNot sure how many turned out. We had 3 different rallies. The evening one in downtown drew an estimated 1,000 - but that could be a downplayed number by our (very) conservative press.
ReplyDeleteP.S. It's wonderful to see the Lumbersexual!
My daughter and I went to one in Wilmington DE, where there were maybe around 5,000 people. It get hard to walk, but damn it I can stands no more of this. It was a good day. Love some of the sign your got pictures of...speak volumes. The one with No Kings and No Vile Queens gave me a chuckle!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree your last capture is a excellent shot. I love that part of Philly. Williams brother used to live on Elfreth's Alley.
We went to a smaller one near Chi.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the people in Philly I thought of you.
XOXO
P.S. The Lumbersexual!!!!!
Same here when I saw Chi crowds! The Lumbersexual made thing feel nice! wink.
Delete"Hey Trump, nobody paid us, we all hate you for free" and "No KKKings" for the win! And those adorable "No Kings, Just Wieners" dogs!
ReplyDeleteI heard a rumor that Bibi suckered you know who into thinking this was going to be a quick war. I wouldn't be shocked if it were true. Wouldn't that make it a THIRD time in our lifetimes we entered a war under false pretenses?
ReplyDeleteWell Bibi might be sorry...his country is taking a brunt of bombings. I would sooooo miss him if he didn't make it. Another evil man.
DeletePlease don't take it personally, but I don't think it appropriate for King Chaz III to come over to see Donald Duck next month. It is alleged that Chaz likes Donald Duck as much as the rest of us and I am sure would be thrilled not to have to turn up. I personally believe that the call over 250 years ago for no taxation without representation was a perfectly reasonable one.
ReplyDeleteJust what I am saying. I am tired of the fakeness! If King Charlie doesn't like him, he shouldn't come. World peace, protocol and diplomatic be screwed. If he doesn't like him, I wouldn't come. Yet they all stroke his ego which doesn't help. I'll send Charlie a Casa du Borghese letter! LOL.
DeleteBad news; https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cjd8nkezdyxo
DeleteSo glad to see such Unity at the Protests all across the Nation, we had over 70 Protests in Arizona. I heard over Eight Million Plus attended Nationwide. It gives me renewed Hope that the Resistance is gaining Momentum and Power.
