Happy New Year to you All!
Here at the Casa today all are fine after getting to bed at around 4:30 am! The Mistress was high and tight as were most of the guest from swilling on champagne all night. Now we are relaxing with watching the Mummers Parade, truly an ALL DAY spectacle, while the dinner is cooking. The Mummers Parade is held each New Year's Day in Philadelphia. It is the oldest and longest running folk festival parade in the United States. Local clubs, usually called "New Years Associations", compete in one of five categories- Comics, Wench Brigades, Fancies, String bands, and Fancy Brigades. The parade is a 118 year, unique Philadelphia tradition that is pure fun, enjoyment, and folk art, and has withstood the test of time because of the strength of the diverse communities. And has more plumes, feathers, beads ,and sequins to complete with any drag show!!!!
I present my meat!

DeleteHELL YEAH! if ya got it, flaunt it!
DeleteHAPPY 2020, Mistress! Please show as more of your amazing post this year. I hope your were able to catch out amazing concert last night. It was a good time with the great Bramwell Tovey
ReplyDeletewe listened to the rebroadcast this afternoon, josh. such fun! bramwell's accent made me weak in the knees; I'm such a sucker for a UK accent. HNY to you and the fabulous philadelphians!
DeleteI did indeed hear it and it was amazing!!!! I had it on while getting my buffet together. I love Bramwell...such a sense of humor.
DeleteHappy New Year
At the risk of humbugging anyone's bah, I'm exhausted! Some idiots eager for the new year to begin started shooting off their whatevers (one sounded like a cannon) at 8:00 p.m. That wasn't even 12:00 a.m. on the east coast yet! My poor Bella was traumatized until everything stopped at 1:00 a.m. By that time I was wide awake! I don't really know what a Mummer is, except that was what my grandmother used to call our little lady parts. TMI? Too bad, I'm tired! My late mother-in-law used to cook head cheese and chitlins' on New Years for luck (Mississippi born). I don't know about all that. It certainly wasn't lucky for the pigs! I'm very glad that everyone else enjoyed themselves (not snark, really). By the way, I enjoyed the card with the drunken robins. So cute!
ReplyDeleteat least the idiots round here waited until midnight to set off the fireworks/cannons/whatever the fuck it was. and it only lasted 15 minutes. HNY, duchess!
DeleteI like the r drunken robin card too Deedles. We here were the same...horns, fireworks, and car horns here at midnight. The fireworks are actually very pretty. A neighbor across the street sets them off. If Buster had been here, he usually jumps, looks around then falls back asleep. Happy New Years Duchess Deedles!!!!!! Now excuse me...my mummer has an inch.
Deletedid someone scratch your mummer for you?
DeleteHappy New Year dear Maddie and thank you so much for this post and all your post in the past year. I watched the Mummers here too. They telavise which is nice

That was before it went in the oven silly! But thanks for your query dear.
